Officers of the Yau Tsim Police District Anti-Triad Operation Team launched an anti-crime operation at about 1:50 am today (May 30).

The officers raided a unit at Knutsford Terrace in Tsim Sha Tsui and smashed a suspected unlicensed bar after in-depth investigation based on the information.

During the operation, a 35-year-old person in charge surnamed Wu Nan was arrested on suspicion of "selling alcoholic beverages without a license" and "possibly selling alcoholic beverages without a license".

Two other men in the unit, aged between 27 and 43, were arrested on suspicion of "drinking in premises without a liquor license."

All arrested persons are now being detained for investigation.

The officers seized a total of 25 cans of beer and five bottles of spirits, with a market value of about 5,000 yuan.

The police emphasized that selling alcohol without a license is a serious crime. Once convicted, they can be fined up to 1 million yuan and imprisoned for two years. It is also illegal for citizens to drink alcohol in places without a license. Once convicted, they can be fined up to 2,000 yuan. The public should not try the law by their own hands.
