Are you planning to travel to Europe this summer? These are the requirements of each country

The tourism sector is hopeful. The evolution of the pandemic and the good rate of vaccinations seem to let us see light at the end of the tunnel. This summer is going to be the one of short and medium haul trips. If you are thinking of visiting EU countries, these are currently the entry requirements for each of those destinations.


Germany

A negative antigen test is required a maximum of 48 hours before arrival or a PCR with a maximum of 72 hours at the time of landing.

In addition, all travelers to Germany who have been in Spanish territory during the last 10 days (and arrive by plane) are obliged to quarantine.

Travelers who present proof of complete vaccination, recovery from infection with less than six months or negative result through this portal would be exempt from it.

Austria

Spanish travelers can present a vaccination certificate meeting the deadlines required for the vaccine to take effect;

provide a certification that covid has been overcome in the last 6 months;

perform a negative PCR test prior to flight departure (taken within 72 hours of arrival);

a rapid antigen test (taken within 48 hours prior to arrival) or evidence of antibodies no older than three months.

Belgium

For boarding, it is necessary to present a negative PCR test taken no later than 72 hours before arrival in the country.

In addition, a 10-day quarantine is mandatory for all passengers from Spain and they must do an additional PCR test on the seventh day of arrival.

Only if the result is negative can the quarantine be interrupted.

Check the situation for passengers from Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria, Extremadura, the Valencian Community, the Balearic Islands, Murcia, the Canary Islands and Ceuta labeled as orange and green zones.

Business trips have special treatment and may be subject to quarantine.

Bulgaria

Vaccination certificate with the last dose of the vaccine administered at least 14 days before entering the country or a document with a positive result (PCR or antigen test) for people recovered from covid-19 in the period between 15 and 180 days before entering the country.

Also valid is a negative PCR test taken up to 72 hours before landing.

Czechia

Borders closed for tourism.

It is only possible to travel for work or family matters with justification, in these cases it is necessary to present a negative test of PCR with 72 hours or of antigens with 24 hours before the flight departure to the Czech Republic.

There are special requirements for Spanish regions with a high covid rate.

Cyprus

For boarding, it is necessary to complete a flight form or, failing that, obtain a passenger locator, present a negative PCR test taken at most 72 hours before arrival in the country or, failing that, present the complete vaccination certificate in the case of AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Moderna and Sputnik.

If you have received the Janssen, it must have been 14 days.

Upon arrival, if you are not vaccinated, you must repeat the PCR, assuming the cost.

Croatia

Complete vaccination certificate and at least 14 days after the final dose.

Travelers who do not have a complete vaccination can enter with a negative PCR or antigen test.

If they do not provide it, it can also be done on arrival, but it implies a self-quarantine until receiving the result of the test.

Travelers who have overcome the virus can also enter and present a medical certificate that proves it within a maximum of 180 days after having passed the disease.

Denmark

Certificate of vaccination with the complete doses or PCR or antigens taken 48 before the flight departure.

Upon arrival, if the complete vaccination is not presented, it is mandatory to carry out a covid test except for passengers under 12 years of age.

It is also valid to provide a certificate of recovery from the infection no less than 14 days nor more than 12 weeks before entry.

Slovakia

Negative antigen test no longer than 48 hours or a negative PCR test no longer than 72 hours.

All passengers are obliged to keep 14 days of quarantine that can be interrupted in case of proving having overcome the disease in the last 180 days or obtaining a negative PCR on the eighth day after arrival.

Vaccinated persons must undergo PCR testing at any time after arrival.

Slovenia

PCR test with negative result done 48 hours before arrival in the country.

Travelers who present with a valid vaccination certificate, travelers with a certificate of having passed the covid-19 in a period greater than 10 days and less than 6 months, are exempt from presenting it.

Estonia

PCR with a negative result done 72 hours in advance, mandatory at the time of shipment.

Mandatory quarantine if at the time of travel the incidence of the country exceeds 150 people per hundred thousand, except for those who present a vaccination certificate with the complete doses with a maximum age of 6 months or for those who prove that they have overcome the covid in the last 180 days.

Vaccination certificate (even if it is only for the first dose) with 21 days from the first regimen.

Still an additional test is required upon arrival in Finland.

Unvaccinated passengers can be forced to a 14-day quarantine that can be reduced by presenting a negative PCR 72 hours before boarding the flight and a second 72 hours after arrival.

Greece

Vaccination certificate.

The guidelines must have been completed (in the case of Pfizer or AstraZeneca) at least 14 days before.

In case of not being vaccinated, negative PCR test taken up to 72 hours before entering the country.

Once at the destination and at random, the passenger can undergo a medical examination and a rapid test.

To date, tourists are not allowed to enter, only Hungarian citizens, their relatives of citizens, resident foreigners or justified business trips.

Ireland

It is mandatory to present a negative PCR taken a maximum of 72 hours before shipment and a certificate of vaccination with the complete doses (7 days before for Pfizer, 14 for Moderna and Janssen and 15 for Oxford AstraZeneca) upon arrival in the country.

It is mandatory to carry out a 14-day quarantine with the option of interrupting it by repeating a PCR on the fifth day, provided that it tests negative again.

As of July 19, the mandatory quarantine is lifted.

Netherlands

Alternatively, a negative PCR taken 72 hours before and an antigen test taken 24 hours after shipment can be presented.

Passengers in transit are required to present a PCR test done no later than 72 hours before arrival.

In addition to that, a 10-day self-quarantine is required, reduced to five if another PCR test is done with a negative result.

These rules do not apply to passengers coming from low-risk areas;

of Spain, only the Balearic and Canary Islands are.

Portugal

All travelers by air are subject to the requirement of a negative PCR test done no later than 72 hours prior to departure.

For travelers bound for the Azores islands and with a stay of more than seven days, a new covid test is required on the sixth and twelfth day of stay, counting from the date of the first PCR.

Controls at the land borders between Spain and Portugal have not been extended so transit is open again.

They do not require a PCR test.

Travelers from countries classified as "green" (in the case of Spain) can enter Romania without being subject to any isolation requirement or anticovid test.

PCR or antigen test taken 48 hours before arrival in Sweden.

A test is recommended on arrival in Sweden as soon as possible and self confinement until the result is obtained.

These are turbulent times and the rules can change very quickly.

It is always better to reconfirm the situation before organizing the trip.

Exceptions for minors must be taken into account, since countries mark different ages to exempt them from the entry requirements.
