The Isar Valley hikers have been around in Geretsried for 42 years.

Although the members are naturally often in the fresh air, due to the corona pandemic they only rarely see each other and then in small groups.

Geretsried / Bad Heilbrunn - The contact restrictions do not yet allow larger groups to meet.

That is also the reason why the upcoming new elections have to be postponed again and again, as Vice-Chair Anna Maria Föhlisch (57) from Bad Heilbrunn reports.

Ms. Föhlisch, the Isartal hikers actually come together for a regulars' table once a month.

This has not been possible for a long time due to the corona pandemic.

Are there virtual meetings?

Föhlisch:

We are a club with a relatively high average age.

Of course, video conferencing doesn't do a lot there.

I do myself hard there.

And I don't have to do that with an 80-year-old.

We see each other on the board now and then.

But we don't even see our members anymore.

That is really a shame.

Does everyone do their own hiking excursion?

Föhlisch: Something like that

.

We have organized a small hiking group from the association, depending on what is currently allowed.

But we're never more than ten people.

We then go for a little lap, as on this day, for example.

We hiked around Gelting once.

The only thing that comes regularly to everyone is the rejections that our secretary sends out.

Our club life stands still.

That’s a shame

.

Föhlisch:

Yes, everyone regrets that.

This has been the case since November.

There are no more regulars' tables and no more trips that we normally do once a month.

That's pretty tough.

When do you want to start again?

Föhlisch: In

principle, that only works when the inns are open and we can all meet.

In January we wanted to elect a new board because our club boss Karl Rehm is no longer on the verge of health.

We push and push that.

Is it worth making plans for 2021?

Föhlisch:

Sure!

And we made plans too.

Our club trip to the Moselle is ready, everything is booked.

And every year we offer three guided hikes with 50 to 100 participants.

Well, we had to cancel the first on May 8th around the Riegsee.

But we hope we can host the next hike.

It is scheduled for July 18th.

It starts in Huglfing.

And in September we want to hike in Ascholding.

The only question is, with what conditions we can organize these hikes and whether we can do this as a small association.

Does the limited club life affect the number of members?

Föhlisch:

Because of the corona pandemic?

No.

That has more reasons of age.

But we haven't gained any new members either.

How are you supposed to advertise if you don't have the opportunity?

That's why we're happy about this interview.

If we're allowed to go again, we'll meet every third Monday of the month at 7.30 p.m. at the Geiger Inn.

Guests are welcome to join.

And every month we go on an excursion, for example to feed the game, to the Wieskirche or to Munich for a city tour.
