After the ruling that sentenced policeman Luis Oscar Chocobar (34) to two years in suspended prison and five years of disqualification from exercising his function for "excess in the fulfillment of duty", the officer said that he
feels that the Justice "abandoned him "
.
"
It brings me a lot of sadness,
" he said about the ruling, because "as police personnel, he is always at the disposal of society, and the truth is I felt that justice abandoned me," Chocobar declared in dialogue with
TN
.
"I think the only thing I have left is
the support of society
and I feel very happy about that," he said.
The policeman, who killed the assailant
Juan Pablo Kukoc (18)
, after he had stabbed the American tourist with an accomplice
Joe Wolek (57)
, assured that the support he receives is "
a caress to the soul
."
"I had many calls, text messages and through the networks.
It is impressive how people were at all times,
" he explained.
Chocobar analyzed that, after the ruling, "
the police are going to think twice about acting
."
"It is very unfortunate because
Justice would have to be on our side
, since we are faithful servants of it, but hey, I feel that I am a little abandoned," he insisted.
He also did not doubt that
"I would do the same again"
because "it is part of my humanity, to always be at the disposal of society and also as my police function requires."

She said that to keep going, with her seven-year-old daughter as motivation, she
is studying nursing
"and I'm about to move on to third year."
"
The most important thing is to look forward
and accompanied by the people who are always with me," he continued.
When asked about a collection that is being prepared for him on the Internet, Chocobar said that he is "ashamed to receive something from someone, because since I was 9 years old I have been working and have
always earned the mango
that I take home."
"But I also start to think and I think that their gesture is something human, to feel the affection and express it in some way," he thanked.
Then he assured that with his colleagues from the Buenos Aires Police they never felt the salary increase from last year, after the protests.
"The personnel of the Province continues to suffer. There are people who work 24 hours a day and cannot see their children, the truth
is
that
the
economic
situation
of the Province Police
is very deplorable
," he said.
Appeal: how the case continues
Chocobar's lawyer,
Fernando Soto
, said of last Friday's ruling that it was "a
more political
decision
than a legal one
."
And he confirmed that they will appeal to the Chamber of Cassation.
For the lawyer, the evidence and the prosecution's accusation confirm that Chocobar acted in "a situation of legitimate defense."
"What was left for him to do? Stand still like Juan Pablo Roldán?" He said, referring to the Federal Police Inspector who was killed by a knife in front of Malba in September.
"
They did not give us the grounds for the ruling
. It is like an account in which they gave us the end, but we do not know how," the lawyer graphed.
In addition, he said that "more than a solomonic failure, I think they wanted to be good with God and with the devil, but they
were good with the devil nothing else
."
"We need the judges to be brave and
apply the law with courage.
In this case, so public, we feel that they did not risk acquitting him. Because the evidence was clearly
of acquittal,
" said Chocobar's defender.

He also warned that they will appeal to the Chamber of Cassation and that later the Court could give "a ruling that will establish jurisprudence."
Finally, Soto said that "until the Court is issued there is no final sentence" and that, therefore, Chocobar "
continues to be a police officer and continues to work
."
"They want to throw him out, there are several moves, but so far they cannot because the law says that he is innocent until there is a final sentence," he explained.
Soto denounced that there is much "ideological" in the case.
A controversial case
The fact that was judged occurred on the morning of December 8, 2017, when
Frank Wolek
(57) went for a walk in the La Boca neighborhood to take some photos.
At the corner of Olavarría and Garibaldi, two thieves attacked him.
The American tourist received 10 stab wounds from thieves who wanted to steal his camera, two were to the heart.
At that time, Chocobar, who lived in the area, was leaving his home to do additional hours at the Finochietto Hospital.
"I come across two people who were hurting someone and people shouting. You could hear:" They are killing him! They are killing him! ", The policeman told this newspaper three months after the fact.
The agent managed to yell at the assailants, who escaped.
Wolek beckoned to Chocobar and vanished.
The policeman called 911 and more people came to assist the tourist.
At one of the corners, a group of neighbors caught up with one of the robbers, Kukoc, and a struggle began.
Chocobar went to them and identified himself as a policeman.
Pablo Kukoc the assailant who was shot by a policeman in La Boca and died after assaulting a tourist from the United States.
"When I see that he does nothing, I take out my regulation pistol, I take three shots at the sky so that he knows that he had to give up what he was doing because he could kill any of the three who followed him," he said.
The sequence continued with a chase in which, according to the agent's account, the thief was "measuring" him and in a corner he wanted to "pounce" towards him.
"Then I throw myself back and fire the shots at the person but always from the waist down," he said.
Kukoc fell to the ground with a gunshot wound to the buttock.
The scene was recorded by security cameras on the block.
Wolek and Kukoc were taken to Argerich Hospital, both in critical condition.
The tourist was hospitalized for 21 days until he was discharged.
Kukoc died four days after the assault.
