They assaulted him, asked for help and died of a heart attack: two arrested for 'homicide'

Jorge Luis Esquilache (48) and his son Ezequiel David Esquilache (23) were returning from work when two men pointed a gun and a knife at them.

Luis tried to protect his son and struggled with one of the thieves.

As soon as he tried to escape from the place, he broke down and fell to the ground.

His attackers fled with their belongings.

At the corner of Américo Vespucio and Circunvalación avenues, in the Villa Cariño neighborhood, on the outskirts of San Miguel de Tucumán, Jorge collapsed and needed medical assistance.

As the ambulance did not arrive, they transferred him in a car to a care center a few blocks from the place and from there they had to refer him to the Santillán Hospital.

He did not resist.

The fatal victim

had a cardiac history

and, according to the doctors, died of a heart attack as a result of the blows and the violence of the assault. 

The attackers were identified by the Tucumán Police as Daniel Rodrigo Centeno (27) and Mauricio Jesús Nadal (29), known as "Tata".

Jorge Luis Esquilache (48) had two children and a grandson.

According to the family's complaint, they stole a cell phone from the Esquilache, a

wallet with 7 thousand pesos 

corresponding to the payment for the work day and a backpack with clothes they had to change. 

The next day, Centeno and Nadal ended up in prison for the act.

But the robbery ended in a much more serious accusation: at the hearing to formalize the arrest, the prosecution asked that they be charged not only for robbery, but also for

murder

.

Is that the victim ran from the scene of the robbery to "seek help" and "take shelter", alleged from the prosecution.

While what happens to the defendants will depend on the final result of the autopsy, the investigators aggravated the charge against them.

Daniel Rodrigo Centeno (27) and Mauricio Jesús Nadal (29) are detained and charged with "homicide on the occasion of robbery" after the death of Jorge Luis Esquilache in Tucumán.

The judicial file was in the hands of the specialized prosecutor's office in robberies and thefts No. 2, in charge of Pedro León Gallo, who derived the actions in the assistant prosecutor María José Agüero.

In that instance, the prosecutor Agüero asked the intervening judge, Eduardo González, to maintain the arrests of Centeno and Nadal but for the crime of "

homicide on the occasion of robbery, as co-perpetrators

", since he considered that the death of the victim Despite his previous health issue, he derived directly from the robbery.

Agüero requested preventive detention for six months, although Judge González

granted it for 60 days

Jorge Luis Esquilache, whom everyone knew as Luis, was the father of two children and the grandfather of a girl.

He worked at the San Miguel de Tucumán Fruit and Vegetable Concentration Market (Mercofrut), about 10 blocks from the scene.

From there he was walking when he was intercepted by thieves.
