The scene of the incident at the Eshkol Regional Council (Yanir Yagana)

A resident of Gaza tried to infiltrate the settlement in Eshkol this evening (Sunday), stabbed Rabshakeh lightly and was neutralized by another. An initial IDF investigation indicates that the suspect crossed from the southern Gaza Strip into Israeli territory.

The IDF scanned the area after the incident, and later the police and the GSS opened an investigation on suspicion of attempted murder in the circumstances of a terrorist act.

Residents of the area remain in their homes until the end of the event is announced.

At this time it appears that the first Rabshakeh was the one who identified the terrorist who arrived at the settlement of Sde Avraham in the Gaza Envelope area and questioned him. The suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed the Rabshakeh with his hand and waist, until another Rabshakeh arrived quickly and neutralized the suspect. "He was with knives and came to stab us, I shot him in the leg and neutralized him," the Rabshakeh told his friends.

A military source claimed that it was not yet clear where the suspect came from.

He said security forces are scanning the area to try to figure out how he got there, and whether he crossed the perimeter fence.

A force scanned the Kerem Shalom crossing area, on suspicion that the Palestinian hid in the area before reaching the settlement.

According to the Regavim movement, the weapon of the wounded Rabshakeh was taken about a year ago, when a complaint was filed against him with the Police Investigations Department (DIP) claiming that he pulled out the weapon while handing out reports of vehicle safety malfunctions and violating Corona guidelines.

An appeal he filed last week was denied, and he will operate the incident without a weapon.
