Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Abkhazia Kristina Ozgan announced that her country intends to develop cooperation with Syria in the field of tourism, agriculture, transportation, as well as the humanitarian field.
In a statement on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum today, Ozgan reviewed the process of developing relations between the two countries, noting that "Syria recognized the Republic of Abkhazia on May 29, 2018, and established diplomatic relations with it, and in the same year the two presidents signed an agreement of friendship and cooperation," pointing out that the two sides They signed basic documents outlining their cooperation.
Ozgan explained that within the framework of the last visit from May 16 to 20 of the Abkhaz delegation headed by President Aslan Bazania to Syria, agreements for cooperation in the field of tourism and transport were signed, and on May 18, Damascus hosted the first meeting of the Abkhaz-Syrian Joint Committee for Economic Cooperation She pointed out that the work of this committee aims to implement the agreements and treaties signed between the two countries regarding cooperation in the field of agriculture and the supply of Syrian and Abkhaz products. It is scheduled to pay special attention to cooperation in the field of culture and education.
