160 passengers had to leave the plane, a "police reason" had been recorded.

Update from May 31, 2021:

A plane belonging to the Irish airline Ryanair landed unscheduled on Sunday evening at Berlin Airport BER and was searched by the federal police.

As a spokeswoman for the federal police announced, the plane was on its way from Dublin to Krakow and landed at 8:08 p.m. at the capital's airport.

For reasons of police tactics, the spokeswoman did not want to say

whether there was a bomb threat, as

Bild

reported.

The reason for the stopover was initially unclear.

After "a police reason" had been recorded, the police took measures to avert danger.

These were ended in the early hours of the morning without any danger being identified, as the spokeswoman later announced.

The 160 passengers had to leave the plane for several hours and were looked after in the terminal.

According to the police spokeswoman, a replacement machine was made available to allow passengers to continue their journey to Poland at 3:46 a.m.

In July last year, a Ryanair plane, which was flying the same route from Dublin to Krakow, had to make an emergency landing in London because of a bomb alarm.

The alarm turned out to be unfounded.

Airport BER: “Unscheduled landing” from Ryanair plane

Original report from May 30, 2021:

Berlin - The Federal Police checked an aircraft after an unscheduled landing at the Berlin capital airport BER.

"Police are on site at the aircraft," said a police spokeswoman on Sunday evening.

The Ryanair plane, which was actually on its way from Dublin in Ireland to Krakow in Poland, is in a special parking position. The spokeswoman did not initially provide any further details with reference to the ongoing operation. The "BZ" and "Bild" had previously reported.

As reported in the picture, the Boeing 737 at Groß Köris (Brandenburg) suddenly turned 180 degrees to the west. After another turn, the Ryanair plane headed for BER airport. The 160 passengers were apparently allowed to leave the aircraft, writes the BZ. Accordingly, a replacement machine was provided. What kind of emergency it was is still unclear at first. According to BZ information, the plane is searched for a suspicious item on board. A start after a completed search is then probably possible despite the night flight ban.
