The governor of the Province of Buenos Aires, Axel Kicillof, announced that from this Saturday the
"free vaccination" for those over 70 years of age
will open in the district
,
who may be inoculated with the first dose of the anticovid scheme without prior registration.
To be vaccinated, then, Buenos Aires citizens over 70 years of age will receive the initial dose of the coronavirus vaccine by simply presenting themselves at any vaccination center in the Province
with their ID
.
In the press conference held at the provincial government house on Friday morning, the official explained that this measure implies
"a higher stage"
in the district's vaccination plan.
Kicillof specified that the "first dose" will be applied to "any person from Buenos Aires over 70 years old with the sole condition of presenting their document and
proving their address
" in any of the vaccination centers of the Province.
"It is a higher phase in the vaccination campaign where
we continue working with the previous shift
, but we also open the free vaccine because we need everyone to be vaccinated," said the governor.
In that sense, Kicillof said that "four million people have already been vaccinated" in the province and that on Thursday they broke a record of daily applications, with
104,600 doses
supplied on the day.
"We continue working, as the vaccines arrive, to increase the pace," Kicillof said.
In this context, he defended the vaccination plan by pointing out that "there are jurisdictions that have vaccinated one million; the Province does it in ten days, because we have
17 million inhabitants
, almost half Argentina."
"Since the 29th of last month we have given
a million and a half shifts
. This means that the rhythm of the largest vaccination program in our history is growing," he concluded.
"We continue to work, as vaccines arrive, to pick up the pace," Kicillof said.

On the other hand, he preferred
"not to advance dates"
on the arrival of component 2 of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine.
"It is subject to so much uncertainty ... If I set a date we will be measuring ourselves against a date, which is provisional today," he explained.
Purchase of vaccines
At the same press conference this Friday, Axel Kicillof announced the signing of an agreement for the purchase of
ten million Covaxin vaccines
against coronavirus by the Province, despite the fact that this formula, developed in India, does not yet count. with the approval of the Anmat.
If the purchase is made - no deadlines were announced, not even tentative ones - the vaccines will be made available to the national government for distribution throughout the country, according to the Buenos Aires governor.
Campaign progress
Five months after the start of vaccination, 91% of the Buenos Aires suburbs have percentages of application of first doses lower than 30% of their total population.
Of the 24 municipalities that are part of the first and second cordon, 22 register numbers below that figure, while there are two that exceed that barrier:
Morón and Vicente López
.
In the case of the application of second doses, the numbers are even lower: only nine districts have more than
5% of their inhabitants fully immunized.
The data comes from the analysis made by
Clarín
of the Situation Room of the Ministry of Health of the province of Buenos Aires, in charge of the Kicillof administration, until Friday, May 28.
In these five months, 4.5 million doses were applied to Buenos Aires soil, although the first injected doses were 3,577,149.
With a total population estimated at more than 17 million, including those under 18 years of age,
the proportion of vaccinated inhabitants barely exceeds 20%
, in line with what happens in the suburban municipalities.
