The nationwide incidence values are falling and traveling is becoming easier again.
Anyone who travels back to Germany from a risk area can now bypass the quarantine obligation under certain conditions.
This new entry regulation * came into force on May 13, 2021.

The quarantine obligation for those returning from a risk area does not apply if:
You are fully vaccinated.
People are considered fully vaccinated from the 15th day after the second dose.
However, only the vaccines approved in the EU are recognized: Biontech / Pfizer, Moderna, Astrazeneca and Johnson & Johnson.
You have already contracted the coronavirus in the past six months and have recovered.
People are considered to have recovered if they had a positive test result at least 28 days ago.
You can show a negative Corona test on your return journey.
PCR tests may not be older than 72 hours, and rapid antigen tests only a maximum of 48 hours.
You are a cross-border commuter or cross-border commuter.
There is also no quarantine requirement for children under six years of age.
There are no entry regulations for children under six years of age.
From the age of six, the test is compulsory for children.
However, the obligation to

after returning from a risk area
remains.
Test, vaccination or recovery records must also be uploaded.

For all other air travelers, it is still necessary to show a negative corona test before leaving for Germany - regardless of the incidence value of the holiday country.
You still have to do a rapid PCR or antigen test in the country you are traveling to.
The PCR test may not be more than 72 hours old on arrival, and a rapid antigen test a maximum of 48 hours.
If you do not have a test certificate, the airlines may not let you on board.
After returning from the virus variant area, the quarantine obligation continues to apply
Numerous countries in Europe are currently considered to be corona risk areas.
That means the seven-day incidence is over 50.
These include Belgium, Denmark, Croatia, Greece, Italy, Austria, Switzerland and Cyprus.
The
quarantine

remains in place
for
virus variant areas and high incidence areas
.
Travelers returning from an area with new, more contagious Corona variants must go into strict 14-day isolation.
Free testing after five days is also not allowed.
In addition, vaccinated and convalescent people must also take an antigen test before entering the country - this must not be more than 24 hours old at the time of entry.
