In implementation of the slogan “Hope by Action,” Damascus Governorate implemented a voluntary service day that included cleaning campaigns, asphalting works, rehabilitation and maintenance of sidewalks, roads, lighting devices, planting roses and plants for a number of public squares, rinsing work in a number of streets, spraying pesticides and removing wall advertising posters.

The service works included the Aisha River highway and the Fifth Node under the southern corridor to the March 8 complex in Zabaltani, the Umayyad and Muhafaza squares, and the isolating the course of the Barada River branches in the Rukn al-Din and al-Maliki areas.

A number of participating workers whom SANA met emphasized the importance of volunteering in various fields, as Abdel Nasser Marei and Muhammad Khalidi from the Directorate of Gardens indicated that they participate in this day by planting ornamental plants in the Umayyad Square to improve the aesthetic appearance, which reflects solidarity and the ability to give, while Amjad drew Faris from the asphalting workshop at the Maintenance Directorate indicated that the workshops are participating in improving the roads and their service status, stressing the need to continue with the volunteer days because of their great benefit to everyone.

Working in the spirit of one team, cleaning the streets and rinsing the roads, according to the worker in the Directorate of Hygiene, Youssef Smadi, is a national duty, calling on everyone to participate and not throw dirt in the streets and cooperate among everyone to keep our country beautiful. The Governor of Damascus, Eng. The volunteer day was attended by the deputy head of the Executive Office, members of the office, the Secretary-General of the Provincial Council, and all its managers and employees.
