Facebook announced today that the ban on the account of former US President Donald Trump will continue until January 7, 2023, that is, for two full years after it was suspended on the platform for the first time.
The site stated that after the mentioned date, "it will conduct an assessment of the public safety risks of the account" before Trump can restore it.
The site added that if the account suspension is lifted after that, "Trump will be subject to a severe set of sanctions if he violates Facebook's policies in the future."
Trump's accounts on Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat were suspended indefinitely for "inciting violence" after groups of his supporters attacked the US Capitol on January 6, leaving five people dead.
