The social network run by Mark Zuckerberg announces the end of preferential treatment for politicians.

The social network announces this Friday that it is suspending Donald Trump for two years.

A measure that forms part of a stricter policy with regard to political leaders.

Four months after the suspension of his account, the former US president was sanctioned by the supervisory board of the social media giant.

A decision which testifies to the immense political power of the dominant platforms.

Facebook had banned from its platform the former American president on January 7, the day after the invasion of the Capitol in Washington, by a crowd of his supporters, during the certification of the victory of Joe Biden in the election of November 2020 The Californian group believed that the Republican billionaire broke his rules on incitement to violence, including in a video where he expressed his support for the rioters.

Last January, it was Twitter which first sanctioned the former president and permanently suspended his account by highlighting the “risk of new incitement to violence” after the events on the Capitol.
