- The main shareholders from Heidenheim have actually done it: "In the mountain restaurant of the Karwendelbahn at 2244 meters above sea level, the new, ultra-modern distillation plant, Germany's highest distillery, has been located for a few days", they say in their newsletter (also press release). “We assume that we will be able to make the first brandies in around four to six weeks.” The high-proof is not supposed to be an Alpine-compliant gentian, but a whiskey.
In other words: Board member Wolfgang W. Reich and his business friends, who have been in a clinch with the market town of Mittenwald (second largest shareholder) and various offices for years, have once again created facts.
For those responsible in the responsible district office, Reich's schnapps offensive in the nature reserve means only one thing: another provocation.
Karwendelbahn investors: Again no building application, again no answer
As with various other projects (for example, an outdoor seating area in an outbuilding or a mobile home in the parking lot), the investors did not consider it necessary to submit a building application beforehand. Reich and Co. once again left a request from the daily newspaper unanswered. For this, the district authority speaks up: “So far, no building application has been submitted for the distillery,” said press spokesman Stephan Scharf. “So there is no building permit.” Mayor Enrico Corongiu (SPD) is in the same direction. In view of the constant play of the same games by those responsible for the Karwendelbahn, he literally takes refuge in humor: “Was there a building application? No, there wasn't. ”Information on whiskey tasting would surely have been given to him by co-director Patrick Wissensner, Reich's loyal governor in Mittenwald,can give. At least this has recently appeared at municipal council meetings.
But the Heidenheimers are silent - but not in their press release, in which there is talk of numerous construction progress and investments.
According to Karwendelbahn AG, around one million euros should have flowed into new “high-tech toilets” with heated seats and the redesign of the mountain restaurant including a mug safe in the past few months.
Invested in ropeway technology: supervision confirms proper function
The ropeway technology is also richer by the urgently needed control.
“The suspension cable was checked a few weeks ago,” Reich announced in a newsletter.
Everything is flawless, that is confirmed by the cable car supervision of the government of Upper Bavaria.
While their representatives could go about their work without any problems, the people of Heidenheim apparently flexed their muscles in the case of the district office.
