Who from the Socialist Party or from France Insoumise will win the fifteenth district of Paris?

Voters from the 20th arrondissement are invited to go to the polls this Sunday to decide between the two left-wing candidates who are competing in this second round of the by-legislative election organized to replace, in this traditional socialist bastion, the former Minister George Paul Langevin, appointed Deputy Defender of Rights.

Despite a participation of only 15.54% in the first round (12,000 voters), this uncertain match will be scrutinized very closely by the staffs of the left two weeks from the regional and one year from the presidential election.

First and foremost by Anne Hidalgo, whose Elysian ambitions would be weakened by a defeat of her protégé, Lamia El Aaraje, who came first in the first round with 25.66% of the vote in front of the figure of France Insoumise, Danielle Simonnet, who has collected 20.78% of the vote.

François Marie Didier, the candidate (LR), came in third position (18.52%), followed by the ecologist Antoinette Guhl (18.42%) while the communist Thomas Roger had gathered 10.37% of the votes.

Logically, ecologists and communists, who belong to the same municipal majority as the socialist, should refer to it and assure it a large victory.

But things might not be that simple!

In a statement, EELV said it “trusted the free will and sensitivities” of voters rather than calling to vote for either candidate.

"We are part of the municipal majority and we cover the same subjects while Danielle Simonnet, she is in the opposition", underlines in vain the favorite PS, Lamia El Aaraje.

LFI advisor in Paris and close to Jean-Luc Melenchon, Danielle Simonnet embodies the opposition of both Anne Hidalgo and Emmanuel Macron.

The Communists, for their part, asked their voters to "come together to elect the best placed leftist candidate." An implicit call to vote for the socialist. Moreover, Ian Brossat and Jacques Baudrier, both PCF deputies to Anne Hidalgo, came to give her their support this Friday morning while Anne Hidalgo joined her in the afternoon for the last hours of the campaign. .

Danielle Simonnet received Wednesday evening the support of Jean-Luc Mélenchon, to whom she is close, and other figures of France Insoumise like Alexis Corbière, ex-adviser of Paris under Bertrand Delanoë and deputy of Seine-Saint-Denis, or well again from former footballer Vikash Dhorasoo. She also prides herself on the support of the PCF deputy of Seine-Saint-Denis and former Communist Minister of Sports of Lionel Jospin, Marie-George Buffet. In the home stretch, she stepped up door-to-door operations to convince non-voters to come. One of the keys to the ballot.
