Fortunately, the injured school children in the accident were slightly injured because they all buckled their seat belts when riding in the car.

The fire and police explained the details of the traffic accident at 4 pm.

The fire department said that a school bus, a private car and a light goods vehicle were involved in the crash. The lieutenant colonel bus crashed into the cycling track by the Shing Mun River. A driver, a babysitter and 55 school children were on board the bus. The driver was injured. The fracture required firefighters' assistance to leave the carriage. He was awake when he was sent to the hospital, while the babysitter and some school children were injured and frightened. The firefighters assisted in dressing the wounds and soothing emotions.

The drivers and passengers of the private cars and light goods vehicles affected were not injured.

A total of 24 people were injured in the accident, and 81 fire and ambulance colleagues were dispatched.

In the accident, the fire department dispatched 14 ambulances, a mobile wounded treatment vehicle, an auxiliary medical equipment vehicle, a rapid response emergency vehicle and two emergency motorcycles.

After the paramedics arrived at the scene, the injured were triaged and the initial treatment was carried out. The 24 injured were rushed by ambulances to the Prince of Wales Hospital, Kwong Wah Hospital and Nethersole Hospital for treatment. Most of the injured school children were injured by bruises and injuries. Abrasions and shocks, among which the school bus driver was more severely injured and fractured.

According to the police, there were 55 elementary school students aged between 6 and 13 years old, a nanny and a driver on the bus at the time of the incident. After preliminary investigations, the police suspected that the school bus driver did not follow the road signs and caused the accident. Only a right turn was allowed, but the school bus driver did not follow the right turn mark and drove straight ahead, resulting in an accident.

The police will conduct further investigations into the incident, including the physical condition of the drivers, their driving attitude, vehicle maintenance and safety. The current case is referred to the third team of the New Territories South Traffic Investigation Team for follow-up.
