(ANSA) - ROME, JUN 04 - On the occasion of the World Environment Day, Sky's commitment to safeguarding the planet continues. The media company has long been committed to raising awareness of millions of people, using its voice to tell about the central items of the environment, such as climate change, sustainable development, biodiversity, desertification and land consumption, the objectives of the 2030 Agenda, 'circular economy. Furthermore, the group has been promoting responsible and sustainable business for years, with the implementation of concrete projects on an international scale to contribute to the realization of a better future. After becoming the first carbon neutral media company for direct emissions,with the Sky Zero campaign, the group is committed to being the first media company in Europe to become net zero carbon by 2030, reducing emissions caused by its products, its suppliers worldwide and its business by at least 50%.


   The Sky group is the Principal Partner and Media Partner of the COP26 international summit on climate change, the United Nations conference that will decide what the world should do for the climate in the next decade and what changes await us in the future, which will be held in Glasgow.


    Sky Italia, in particular, through a protocol signed with the Ministry of Ecological Transition, is promoting a series of initiatives and activities aimed at raising awareness and involving its public on key issues for the protection of the environment, in view of the major international events of which Italy will be protagonist in this decisive year for the climate: the COP26 in Glasgow, but also the preparatory event (Pre-COP) and the international event dedicated to young people "Youth4Climate2021: Driving Ambition", which will be held in Milan from the end of September.


    In a sort of approach march to these very important events, which will see Sky channels and programming devote ever greater attention to the issues of ecology and sustainability, Sky organizes together with the Ministry of Ecological Transition a meeting dedicated to the World Environment Day, in broadcast on Sky TG24 tomorrow, 5 June 2021, at 12 (and in rerun at 20.45), which will see the participation of the Minister of Ecological Transition RobertoCingolani, together with Stefano Boeri, architect and president of the Scientific Committee of Forestami, Ilaria Capua, director of OneHealth Center of the University of Florida and Andrea Illy, president of Illycaffè, with the moderation of Sarah Varetto, SkyItalia's head of sustainability and communication. The goal will be to understand how institutions, science,society and business can act and collaborate for the "Restoration of Ecosystems", a theme chosen this year by World EnvironmentDay, with the aim of preventing, stopping and reversing the damage inflicted on the planet, also in light of the enormous resources dedicated to the environment of the PNRR, which can allow a radical change of pace in lifestyles and consumption in our country.
