Up to 3000 doses of Astrazeneca could have been vaccinated over the weekend in St. Wolfgang. But the big rush for the vaccination campaign did not materialize.

Up to 3000 doses of Astrazeneca could have been vaccinated over the weekend in St. Wolfgang.

But the big rush for the vaccination campaign did not materialize.

St. Wolfgang - Although the Covid-19 infections in the district are falling sharply, the last few meters into a new "normality" still have to be walked.

Vaccination is the only way out of the pandemic, and "every single injection counts," said the St. Wolfgang general practitioner Udo Hahn in our newspaper yesterday during the big "Astra over 40 vaccination" that took place on Saturday and Sunday in the Goldachhalle.

Well prepared and organized, the vaccination team was ready to set up to 3000 syringes.

By Sunday afternoon, there were only around 600 people willing to be vaccinated who were happy to receive an initial vaccination with Astrazeneca.

"It should have been more," says main organizer Udo Hahn

"It should have been more," said Hahn, who was the main organizer together with the general practitioner Chrysovalantis Kantzeloglou from Dorfen.

He was "not disappointed", and there was also no planned campaign to see who vaccinated the most people.

After all, it is about making vaccination offers "to get out of the pandemic".

For Hahn it was also important that the campaign went very well and that there were no medical emergencies.

As reported, the practice cooperation “General Practitioners in Isental” was behind the campaign.

Vaccinations were carried out on both days from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The opportunity to get a Covid-19 vaccination without prioritization and prior registration attracted many people from St. Wolfgang, but also from the whole district and from further afield, from the Wasserburg / Rosenheim, Deggendorf or Munich area.

A couple even came from Heidelberg (Baden-Württemberg) on Friday for the vaccination.

What they all had in common: They have not yet received a vaccination offer despite various efforts.

Many people who want to be vaccinated especially long for "a little more normalcy"

The biggest rush was on Saturday at the start.

The first people who wanted to be vaccinated were there shortly after 6 a.m. to be on the safe side and finally to get the longed-for prick.

The vaccination motivation was pretty much the same for everyone, as could be heard: All of them longed above all for “a little more normalcy” and security against a serious course of the disease.

Uncomplicated travel was also a motivation for many people who wanted to be vaccinated.

The vaccination is the "only way back to normal life", and testing is also eliminated, according to quite a few.

One of those who was vaccinated was Andreas Redel.

He found out about the special offer, traveled there yesterday and said: “That was a perfect fit.” The Putzbrunner told our newspaper that he wanted to go on vacation in August and then have no stress with return travel quarantine.

Support from the community and the fire brigade

The action was very well organized, reported many of the vaccinated when leaving the Goldachhalle.

Only on Saturday mornings there was a longer queue and around 45 minutes of waiting time to get in.

Mayor Ullrich Gaigl told our newspaper that it was also clear to him that the only way out of the pandemic would be vaccination.

He thinks the campaign is “really great”.

As reported, the community had made the Goldachhalle available free of charge.

Around 20 medical assistants were involved in the vaccination and several doctors in providing information and providing emergency care.

“Der Gieglberger”, a farmer, had made his meadow available as a parking space, and the St. Wolfgang fire brigade supported the campaign with technology and traffic control.

Jens Krautscheid's park pharmacy in Dorfen provided the vaccine.
