The parishes in the district are faced with a difficult decision when it comes to the question of whether a procession should take place on Corpus Christi.
In almost all communities, the pageants are canceled due to the corona pandemic.
A short procession takes place in Bernried.
District - The Corpus Christi procession has a long tradition in Bernried, according to deacon Robert Ischwang, who will lead the procession: “There is a great need to profess one's faith outside the church and to bless the community.
We missed that a lot last year, ”said Ischwang
If in 2020 a “formal order to cancel” the Corpus Christi processions of the diocese of Augsburg was issued to the communities, the situation this year is much more difficult.
Corpus Christi processions are not strictly prohibited
The deputy head of the public relations and media department of the Augsburg diocese, Nicolas Schnall, explains the situation. Corpus Christi processions fall under "the regulations for church services" of the state government, which means that they are not generally prohibited as long as measures to protect against infection such as compliance with the minimum distance, the FFP2 mask requirement, the ban on congregational singing and the development of an infection protection concept are observed. The number of participants in events outside of buildings is only limited by the addition that the procession does not have the "character of a major event." This means that a maximum of 200 people may take part in a procession if no special permission is to be obtained from the district administration .
"With a maximum of 200 participants, a total train length (including liturgical service, flag bearers and possibly musicians) of around 300 meters would have to be expected, which poses very high challenges for the necessary security service and makes it almost impossible for the faithful to come together at the stations," said Schnall .
The parishes were encouraged to hold open-air worship services.

The Archdiocese of Munich and Freising, which also heads some parishes in the district, followed the same policy with regard to the high holiday of the Catholic Church.
Here, too, according to Gudrun Lux, the archbishopric's press office recommended that Corpus Christi processions should be dispensed with.
Most parishes and parish associations follow these recommendations of the dioceses.
The traditional Corpus Christi processions were canceled almost everywhere and alternative events were planned in addition to the festive worship services.
In Bernbeuren and Schwabsoien, for example, there is the possibility of private walks through the villages with stops along the way to pause and pray in silence.
The handouts are available in the respective churches.

An open-air service is held in the community of Peiting.
The parish asks that you bring the correct equipment.
In very bad weather, the service would be moved to the church (seat reservations on 08861/930910).
Registrations in municipalities are required
A further instruction from the dioceses was also reacted to in some parishes.
In those communities where more people could attend church services than the hygiene concepts allow, registrations should be asked.
The parishes in Schongau (08861/71712 or 4432) ask by Tuesday, June 1st, at 11 a.m. and Penzberg (08856/921409) to register for the festive services by telephone.
In Bernried, however, the need for a procession was so great that it was decided to hold a short pageant.
Therefore, after the service in the Hofmark Church, there will be a very short procession around the church.
Deacon Ischwang estimates the risk of the event to be very low: “Only a few believers are expected anyway.
This also means that compliance with the hygiene measures is no longer endangered. "
