The decision was unanimous: the fire brigade equipment house in the Wolfratshausen district of Weidach is to be modernized and expanded.

Wolfratshausen

- According to the recommendation of the building committee, it was more or less a formality for the city council: With 23: 0 votes, the committee approved the expansion of the fire brigade equipment house in Weidach in its most recent meeting.

The public representatives took note of the cost increase of almost 175,000 euros (around seven percent) compared to the cost estimate from October last year.

The bottom line is that the measure now costs around 2.6 million euros.

The existing building is bursting at the seams

The existing building in Weidach was built in 1996 and no longer meets the current requirements.

The city council received this in 2017 in the fire service requirements plan, drawn up by engineer Stephan Rudolph, in black and white.

The committee had commissioned the civil engineer and commander of the Weidacher Wehr, Robert Buxbaum, to plan the expansion and modernization.

He had justified the need for the investment when presenting his design, among other things, with reference to inadequate accident and health protection.

And: The tool shed is bursting at the seams, the storage rooms are crammed with people, and in the event of an alarm, the volunteers have to force their way through dangerously narrow corridors.

Where does the cost increase come from?

Buxbaum's design, which the building committee approved in December 2020, provides for an extension with three floors. On the ground floor, the vehicle hall will be expanded to include two parking spaces for emergency vehicles, and a wing with changing rooms, toilets separated by gender and a so-called alarm room will also be created. A lecture hall, office and multifunctional room are to be built on the upper floor. Buxbaum's property planning also provides for a roof terrace. This is “not a luxury”, emphasizes Buxbaum to our newspaper. The terrace is owed to the roof design statute of the city - and it is not the reason for the increase in costs. The civil engineer explains this with the in-depth planning that has been carried out since December, but above all with the "adjustment of the previous cost estimate to the current development of construction prices".
