The last polls see Prime Minister Reiner Haseloff's CDU ahead - but in some cases only one percentage point ahead of the AfD.
The parties went to great lengths this Saturday: party leader Tino Chrupalla campaigned for votes for the AfD at an appearance in Bitterfeld, while left-wing top candidate Eva von Angern was still in her constituency in Schönebeck.
SPD top candidate Katja Pähle sought a conversation with voters in Halle, and FDP top candidate Lydia Hüskens in Magdeburg.
The Greens wanted to hold an online discussion that evening, while the CDU had already ended its election campaign on Friday evening.

CDU General Secretary Paul Ziemiak called on voters of all parties in the political center to stand behind Prime Minister Reiner Haseloff in order to prevent the AfD from winning the election.
