The workshops of the Directorate of Water Resources in Deir Ezzor began to isolate the course of the small branch of the Euphrates River that passes through the city center.

The Director of Water Resources, Engineer Muhammad al-Rajab, said in a statement to SANA reporter that after a 10-year hiatus due to terrorist acts, work is currently being done to isolate and rehabilitate the stream of the small branch of the Euphrates River, which passes through the city center with a length of about 7 km, and to remove the encroachments committed by terrorist organizations On the branch of the river, which forms the main estuary of the sewage in the city.

He explained that these terrorist organizations, during their previous presence in the areas through which the river passes, put many dams to cut off water from the eastern areas of the city and establish crossings between the two banks of the river branch, which caused the water to be impounded within the stream of the small branch and the occurrence of sediments in it and bottlenecks in the sewage in addition to the spread of Bad odors, rodents and insects that cause diseases to the people living in the area.

Al-Rajab added that special mechanisms were sent to carry out these works from the Ministry of Water Resources, which is currently working on isolating the stream after the dams were removed in Hrabish, Al-Jufra and Hawija Sakr, in order to return the water flow from the small branch towards the main stream, which led to an improvement in the quality of the water. Water and flow return to normal, pointing out that work is continuing to isolate the channels and clean the entire channel.

A number of people noted this step, which comes within the framework of the reconstruction of what was destroyed by terrorism in the city, which contributes to their return to their homes and the exercise of their economic and agricultural activities.
