Yesterday (4th) marked the 32nd anniversary of the June 4th Incident, and it was also the first "June 4th" after the Hong Kong National Security Law came into effect.

The police arrested Zou Xingtong, the vice chairman of the stake, and a 20-year-old man yesterday morning, and alleged that the two used social media to promote and appeal to the public to participate in prohibited public activities, suspected of publicizing or publishing an unauthorized assembly.

Yesterday, Zou Xingtong was detained at the Central Police Station for investigation. Zou was taken by the police from the Central Police Station to the Tsuen Wan Police Station until nearly 9 pm.

It is known that Zou was arrested at 7 am yesterday. It has been more than 30 hours since he was finally released on bail at 4 pm and will leave the Tsuen Wan Police Station.

Zou Xingtong’s friend visited the Tsuen Wan Police Station this afternoon and asked the police if they could buy food for Zou. The police stated that they had prepared food for Zou, and Zou had eaten this morning.

But when will the police Zou Xingtong be released on bail?

The police held a press conference yesterday and stated that on the 27th of last month, the police, in accordance with Article 9 of the Public Security Ordinance, prohibited the stake from holding a public meeting on the evening of June 4.

The stake subsequently appealed, but on the 29th of last month, the Public Assembly and Procession Appeals Committee rejected its appeal and upheld the police's decision.

The police said that after the incident, people still ignored the decision that the June 4th rally had been banned, and continued to promote and appeal to the public to participate in related public activities through social media accounts on different online social platforms, violating Article 17A(1)D of the Public Security Ordinance Article, that is, publicity or announcement of unapproved assembly.

The police arrested a man and a woman in Sha Tin District and Central yesterday morning. The 20-year-old man was arrested with the surname Zhang and reported as a food delivery courier. The 36-year-old woman was the vice chairman of the stake, Zou Xingtong.

However, at the police press conference, they did not explain what remarks the two had made on social media that led to their arrest.
