As-Suwayda-Sana
Seven people with Down syndrome from As-Suwayda presented various handicrafts in accessories using various materials such as wood, beads and threads within the exhibition launched today by the “I Can” group initiative in cooperation with the Church of Jesus the King of the Capuchin Fathers.
The coordinator of the initiative, Hayat Munther, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the exhibition constitutes an opportunity to publish the works of this category, introduce participants to it, integrate them into society and expand their knowledge within the framework of efforts to provide them with the necessary support.
In turn, the pastor of the Monastery and Church of Jesus the King of the Capuchin Fathers in Suwayda, Fadi Ziadeh, said in a similar statement that the aim of the exhibition is to enhance human aspects and spread the values of cooperation and love in our society, especially in these difficult circumstances in which we live.
Mansoura Al-Basit pointed out that her son Thaer's participation in the initiative is important to support his presence in the community and participate in its activities, while the visitor to the exhibition, Mona Karami, found the need to hold such exhibitions to send a message to increase interest in this category in all moral and material aspects.
The “I Can” group is an initiative launched by the educator Hayat Munther in the town of Al-Quraya in 2015 and targets a group of young people with Down syndrome, with the aim of integrating them into society by involving them in the manufacture and marketing of accessories within the local market.
