Lessons of the “criminal” kind: 13 students from the Oskar-Maria-Graf-Gymnasium have now been trained by the Erding Criminal Police on the subject of media literacy.

- The reason for this was the request from the grammar school because it would like to apply the “peer-to-peer principle” in the future.
"As part of this teaching method, older, committed students impart knowledge to the younger ones," says the press release.
Chief Detective Walter Schollerer and Chief Detective Daniela Honsa from the Criminal Police Advisory Center of the Erding Police Inspectorate and Sabrina Dietrich from the Freising Health Department showed 13 participants in the P seminar (project seminar on study and career orientation) opportunities for a lesson in a seven-hour workshop.
Basic knowledge of data protection, cyberbullying, cybergrooming, online games, copyright and communication was imparted on the topics of media studies and media use.
Users should be made aware of how to handle their data carefully
In the future, the members of the P-seminar would like to pass on the knowledge they have acquired to schoolchildren from the fifth grade and teach them how to use smartphones and the Internet safely as part of regular courses. The "users" should be made aware of how to handle their data carefully. "Younger students in particular are often not aware of the negative consequences that can result from carelessness," said the police. "Not to be forgotten are the parents, who should support their children in learning media skills."
As part of the workshop, the members of the P seminar were also able to demonstrate their acting talent in role-playing games on the subject of cyberbullying.
Slipping into a role yourself often proves to be more sustainable and vivid in prevention work than “just” talking about the topic.
Passing on knowledge: from the older to the younger
Conclusion: The group was able to strengthen its skills through the training and will pass on the newly acquired knowledge to other students in the future.
The speakers are still available to provide support.
