(ANSA) - ROME, JUN 04 - Young Europeans are more worried about environmental degradation and climate change (almost 50% of those under 35) than from the spread of infectious diseases (36%).

75% of those aged between 15 and 35 are very or on average motivated to live in a sustainable way.

The position of young Italians is clear: over 80% believe that our consumption habits are not environmentally sustainable.

This is a cross-section of the survey carried out by Ipsos for # ClimateOfChange, the European communication campaign led by WeWorld - an Italian organization that has been defending the rights of women and children in 27 countries of the world including Italy for 50 years - which aims to involve young people to inform them on the link between climate change and migration and create a movement ready not only to change one's lifestyle but also to support global climate justice.

The survey reveals the green habits that young Europeans always or frequently adopt, including good practices such as differentiating waste for recycling (79%), trying to save energy at home (78%), not wasting food waste (80%). Generally speaking, in 85% of cases, young people have a diet including meat and fish, compared to 6% of vegetarians and 5% of "pescetarians" (those who eat fish but not meat). One third (31%) avoid buying new things often, 37% buy fair trade products and organic food.

Aware of the socio-economic repercussions, young people are also ready for incisive actions: it is frequent to vote for politicians who give priority to resolving these problems, intercepting 25% of the under-35 audience, and 20% boycotting commercial products as a form of protest.
