France arrives at Euro 2020 with the role of number one favorite, and strengthened by the victory at the 2018 World Cup in Russia which definitively consecrated Didier Deschamps, the coach capable of winning the world title as a player first and then as a coach.

At Euro 2020 the Bleus will be part of group F, the terrible group of the event with Germany and Portugal and after the "double" world championship the French coach - who as a player also won the European Championship in 2000 - will try to reach another ambitious goal .

Confirmed coach until the 2022 World Cup, Deschamps does not hide the goal of the transalpines, precisely the European title, escaped in 2016 in the final against Portugal, on which he now absolutely wants to take revenge. The 51-year-old former Juventus midfielder came to the helm of the Bleus in summer 2012 in place of Laurent Blanc. Deschamps will thus become the longest-serving French coach, surpassing the eight years and six months of Michel Hidalgo's management between January 1976 and June 1984.

France will participate in the 13th consecutive final round. He's not missing since Euro 96 and has reached three finals, winning three. The most successful period of the transalpines dates back to the late 1990s and early 2000s, when they won a world championship (France 1998), a European (Belgium-Holland 2000) and two Confederations Cups (South Korea- Japan 2001 and France 2003). The Bleus' first international title had reached the 1984 European Championship in France thanks to the exploits of another Juventus player, Michel Platini.

Deschamps' national team, which is one of the favorites to win the European Championship - qualified for the final stage by finishing the group stage with full points.

Youth is the iconic image of this multi-ethnic group where the personalities and talent of people like Antoine Griezmann, Paul Pogba and Kylian Mbappé stand out, but also the experience of Olivier Giroud (for whom the coach has advocated a change of club given the little space in Chelsea, instead the player preferred to stay in London refusing the proposals of Milan).

It could be one of the surprises of the Bleus Clément Lenglet. The player settled almost effortlessly at Barcelona and, after his senior international debut in June 2019, is a candidate to be a starter alongside Raphaël Varane in Didier Deschamps' defense. Above all, however, the return to the national team, after almost six years, of Karim Benzema stands out, whom Deschamps could no longer ignore after the many positive performances of the attacker in Real Madrid: with Mbappé and Griezmann he will form a trident of rare class that already in the friendly against Wales showed what it can do, which is to be devastating.

France will make their debut on June 15 in Munich against Germany in what can be called an early final. On 19 June, France will face Hungary, while on 23 June the match against Portugal's defending champion Cristiano Ronaldo is scheduled for a rematch in the 2016 final.
