The most successful period of the transalpines dates back to the late 1990s and early 2000s, when they won a world championship (France 1998), a European (Belgium-Holland 2000) and two Confederations Cups (South Korea- Japan 2001 and France 2003). The Bleus' first international title had reached the 1984 European Championship in France thanks to the exploits of another Juventus player, Michel Platini.

    Deschamps' national team, which is one of the favorites to win the European Championship - qualified for the final stage by finishing the group stage with full points.

    Youth is the iconic image of this multi-ethnic group where the personalities and talent of people like Antoine Griezmann, Paul Pogba and Kylian Mbappé stand out, but also the experience of Olivier Giroud (for whom the coach has advocated a change of club given the little space in Chelsea, instead the player preferred to stay in London refusing the proposals of Milan).

The player settled almost effortlessly at Barcelona and, after his senior international debut in June 2019, is a candidate to be a starter alongside Raphaël Varane in Didier Deschamps' defense. Above all, however, the return to the national team, after almost six years, of Karim Benzema stands out, whom Deschamps could no longer ignore after the many positive performances of the attacker in Real Madrid: with Mbappé and Griezmann he will form a trident of rare class that already in the friendly against Wales showed what it can do, which is to be devastating.
