Defense officials warn that the planned flag parade in Jerusalem could lead to a security escalation in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

The sources said these things ahead of a professional discussion that will take place today (Sunday) on the subject, with the participation of representatives of the police, the GSS, the IDF, the Ministry of Defense and other security officials.

During the discussion, intelligence from the last few days and security assessments on the extent of the flare-up will be presented, if the march does take place.

Meanwhile, the IDF is taking seriously the threats made yesterday by Hamas leader in the Gaza Strip regarding the friction in Jerusalem and the damage to the status quo, and in the coming days will intensify the air defense system.

Last night, Defense Minister Bnei Gantz conducted a situation assessment on the issue with the participation of Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi, Police Commissioner Kobi Shabtai, Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit, Coordinator of Government Operations in the Occupied Territories, Major General Rassan Aliyan and other security officials.

After the hearing, Ganz's office said he would demand that the event not be held.

"The IDF managed, after dramatic reinforcements and a very significant operational effort, to calm Judea and Samaria during Operation Guardian of the Walls and the Temple Mount events, despite the wild incitement.

Dozens of terrorist attacks were carried out and there were no casualties.

Marched like preparing for Jerusalem, may reignite East Jerusalem, and entail violence, also in the West Bank and Gaza, "said a source in the defense establishment.

It is estimated that the Shin Bet and the IDF will alert the violence expected demonstration, before reaching Israel and Hamas, mediated by Egypt Senior officials in the defense establishment also warn of a regional change created around the Gaza Strip and the backlash that the Hamas leadership is receiving from Egypt.

Recently, the relationship between Cairo and Washington has warmed up, unlike the time of former US President Donald Trump.

In the shadow of the exchange of messages, Egypt began promoting moves within Gaza such as the opening of the Rafah crossing, the passage of goods and pedestrians, and in the last day introduced heavy engineering tools in a long convoy - towards the beginning of the Gaza Strip reconstruction process.

The Egyptian operations were carried out despite Ganz's statements on a clear red line that there would be no progress in rehabilitation and regulation without progress on the issue of prisoners and missing persons.

Security sources claim that Egypt is clearly inclined in the negotiation process alongside Hamas, with Egyptian officials wanting to make significant sums of money from the Gaza reconstruction process.
