Oliver Kirchner is to defend the AfD again as the strongest opposition party in the state elections in June 2021.

Magdeburg - The AfD politician Oliver Kirchner (* 04.05.1966) was born in Magdeburg and completed an apprenticeship as a car mechanic after finishing school.

After the fall of the Wall in 1991, Oliver Kirchner received further training as a bodywork mechanic.

In this occupation he worked for a few years until the end of the 90s again followed by further training in the commercial area.

Oliver Kirchner finished his training as an automobile salesman in 1996 and finally went into business for himself in 1999 with a used car dealership in Magdeburg.

Oliver Kirchner is married and has two children.

In the upcoming elections in Saxony-Anhalt, Kirchner will run as the top candidate for the AfD.

Oliver Kirchner positions in the AfD

Oliver Kirchner's political career only started in 2014 when he joined the Alternative für Deutschland party, which was classified as a suspected right-wing extremist by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution. Within the right-wing party, Kirchner today took a “far right” position. In 2015, just one year after joining the party, the AfD politician Kirchner signed the so-called “Erfurt Resolution”, which is mainly characterized by a folk-nationalist sentiment. Björn Höcke, (* 01.04.1972) right-wing extremist AfD politician from Thuringia, and André Poggenburg (* 12.03.1975) from Saxony-Anhalt are considered to be one of the initiators of the position paper. Both politicians belonged to the so-called "wing" of the AfD.

The term “wing” was used primarily to refer to AfD members who moved in the direction of right-wing extremism.

So it is not surprising that the wing has been actively monitored by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution since 2020.

In 2018 Kirchner repeatedly expressed the wish to form an axis with the CDU in the next elections.

However, this plan failed due to massive resistance within the Union.

Oliver Kirchner on observation by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution

At the beginning of 2021, the entire state association of the AfD in Saxony-Anhalt was placed under surveillance by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution.

Individual AfD politicians can now be monitored by the secret service.

Oliver Kirchner, parliamentary group leader of the AfD, accused the state of Saxony-Anhalt that the current state government was planning to weaken the AfD.

So an observation is incomprehensible and absolutely unfounded.

In an interview, Kircher uttered the sentence “I don't know anyone here who wants to found a criminal organization and overthrow the system”.

Oliver Kirchner's stations within the party:

  • 2014 joined the AfD, assessor in the Magdeburg district association

  • Since 2015 Deputy Chairman of the AfD district association in Magdeburg

  • Between 2016 and 2018 1st deputy chairman of the AfD parliamentary group in the state parliament of Magdeburg

  • From 2016 to 2018 spokesman for labor and social affairs, member of several committees and the council of elders

  • Since 2018 AfD parliamentary group chairman in the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt

Oliver Kirchner as the top candidate for the state elections in Saxony-Anhalt in 2021

At a party conference of the AfD on December 20, 2020, Oliver Kirchner was elected by the delegates present as the top candidate for the upcoming state election in Saxony-Anhalt in 2021.

Oliver Kirchner received 361 of the 416 votes cast at the party conference, which took place at the Magdeburg exhibition center.

In percentage points, Kirchner came up with a result of 87 percent of the votes.

A potential opponent was not set up by the AfD in Saxony-Anhalt.

Despite the corona pandemic, over 400 AfD members were gathered at the party congress.

At the party congress, Kirchner once again underlined his political views.

The aim of the AfD with its candidate for the state elections in Saxony-Anhalt is to deport all foreigners who are obliged to leave the country and to place a stronger focus on German families.

Oliver Kirchner made questionable statements on social media

Oliver Kirchner is actively involved in social media, where he also attracted attention several times through provocative remarks.

On the online platform Facebook, Kirchner linked his own speeches in extremely right-wing groups in which other members denied the Holocaust, among other things.

According to his own statements, however, Kirchner only uses Facebook or Twitter to achieve reach for the AfD.

The postings often revolve around topics relating to migration, refugee policy and a “re-migration” to the home countries of those who have fled to Germany, as requested by Kirchner.

For his statements on Twitter or Facebook, Kirchner was severely criticized across parties as well as by the media on several occasions.

Oliver Kirchner positions on social and family policy

The AfD politician has also drawn attention to himself several times in family policy.

He said several times that “the Germans” had to be brought into work first, that one was “obliged to the German people here”.

Kirchner was sharply criticized by the opposition for this, trying to combine every socio-political issue with the refugee issue.

Kirchner himself sees his position very differently.

So it is not surprising that the AfD politician repeatedly relativized statements made in retrospect.

Oliver Kirchner and views on the economy and society

The AfD in Saxony-Anhalt, headed by Oliver Kirchner, demands that the current economy and environmental policy must be significantly changed.

If it were up to the AfD, no more wind turbines should be approved in the area of Saxony-Anhalt.

With regard to agriculture, the AfD said that national interests in particular should be given greater priority.

In the opinion of the AfD, conventionally operated cultivation should also be promoted more strongly.

Oliver Kirchner and dealing with the corona pandemic

With regard to the current Corona restrictions, Oliver Kirchner shares the internal party view that the currently applicable restrictions must be withdrawn as soon as possible.

Kirchner and the AfD justify their positions with partly contradicting statements.

Corona is not a killer virus, but rather a pronounced and long-lasting flu wave.

Kirchner also repeatedly supported the thesis that rapid tests are included in the infection statistics and the number of infections would thus be artificially increased.

Regarding the overload of the German health system, the party comes to different statements.

It was claimed that the high capacity utilization caused by Corona was only a hypothesis.

The AfD later revised this view.

In order to solve the problem, the AfD calls in the election program to pay appropriate staff.

In the east, wages should be raised to a western level.

However, the party does not address the problem of staff shortages in the health sector.

Oliver Kirchner's private life

Oliver Kirchner embarked on a political career very late and previously worked mainly as an independent businessman in the automobile trade. Kirchner has lived in Magdeburg, the capital of Saxony-Anhalt, since he was born. Little is known about Oliver Kirchner's private interests. He justified his political engagement several times indirectly with the "wave of refugees" in 2015.
