Two people were killed and 23 injured on Saturday (June 5) in a suicide bombing near a busy bus station in Mogadishu, AFP learned from a police source.
The explosion occurred near a roadblock where security forces check vehicles slowed down by massive concrete blocks.
According to several sources, the suicide bomber was targeting a military convoy about to cross the roadblock.

The explosion was caused by a suicide bomber who wanted to hit a military convoy passing through the area.
We have confirmed that two people were killed and 23 others injured, including soldiers,
”Somali police spokesman Sadik Dudishe told AFP.

This is a densely populated area from which minibuses leave for Afgoye (25 km northwest of Mogadishu),
" Mohamud Adan told AFP. .
A witness to the attack said five people died in the attack.

A suicide bomber is at the origin of the explosion, he was trying to hit a military vehicle that was about to pass the roadblock but he blew himself up first.

”said Fadumao Mohamed, adding that some of the victims were in a minibus.

The explosion damaged a minibus and several passengers were hit, some were killed and others injured,
" confirmed another witness, Dahir Shine.
The incident had not been claimed early Saturday evening.
These attacks are most often perpetrated by radical Islamist Shebab insurgents who have sworn the loss of the federal government.
