The director of the Grain Center in Salamiyah, Mudar Fatoum, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the process of receiving the wheat crop goes through several stages, starting from examining wheat samples through a specialized laboratory for analysis, to receiving them according to the required specifications and standards and depositing them in warehouses for grains, indicating that there are several centers for receiving grains. Grain in Salamiyah city and its countryside to facilitate the process of receiving and marketing wheat directly from producers.
Fatoum pointed out that the majority of farmers in Salamiyah depend on rain-fed wheat production due to the low cost of cultivation, although the wheat grain is usually weak and the percentage of impurities in it may increase to more than the minimum allowed, which leads to refusal to receive it, calling on the producers in this case to work on sifting Fine wheat before coming to the grain receiving center in order to get higher price and better grade.
It is noteworthy that the production of the wheat crop in the eastern countryside of Hama in general and the Salamiyah region in particular has increased this year compared to previous years as a result of rainfall and its distribution over the entire periods of vegetative growth of the crop and the various stages of its maturation.
