The electric SUV, which is due to hit the market in November of this year, is initially available in two all-wheel drive versions: xDrive40 and xDrive50.

The xDrive40 has a total output of 240 kilowatts (326 hp).

It has a 76.6 kilowatt-hour battery that should provide a range of 372 to 425 kilometers.

This results in a consumption of 22.5 to 19.4 kilowatt hours per 100 kilometers.

The basic version has a torque of 630 Newton meters.

This enables the 2.4-ton car to accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 6.1 seconds.

The battery can be charged with a maximum of 150 kilowatts.

BMW states that the energy storage device is charged from 10 to 80 percent in 31 minutes.

The maximum load weight is 635 kilograms.

BMW iX xDrive50: from 0 to 100 in just under five seconds

The XDrive50 goes one better.

With an output of 385 kilowatts (523 hp), the model with the 111.5 kilowatt-hour battery has a range of 549 to 630 kilometers.

The power consumption is 23.0 to 19.8 kilowatt hours per 100 kilometers.

The motor provides a torque of 765 Newton meters.

With a weight of 2.6 tons and is reached in 4.6 seconds 100 kilometers per hour.

The battery can be charged with a maximum of 200 kilowatts.

80 percent of the charging capacity is to be achieved in 35 minutes.

The car can be loaded with a maximum of 645 kilograms.

BMW iX: extensive standard equipment with driver assistance systems

Otherwise, the iX variants that are produced in the BMW Dingolfing plant have the same properties. Both bring it to a maximum of 200 kilometers per hour. Four recuperation levels are supposed to lower the electricity demand according to your own taste. The electric SUV can pull 750 kilograms unbraked, and when braked on a maximum of twelve percent incline it is even 2,500 kilograms. The trunk volume can be expanded from 500 liters to 1,750 liters by folding down the rear seats. The standard four-zone automatic air conditioning now includes a nanoparticle filter.

The BMW Operating System 8 should be completely intuitive to use, and it is automatically always up to date. BMW also emphasizes that the iX has the most extensive range of standard assistance systems to date.

There are also numerous innovations.

For the first time, the front collision warning includes oncoming traffic when turning left and cyclists and pedestrians when turning right. 

BMW iX: Level 3 autonomous driving is to come in the medium term

Five cameras, five radar and twelve ultrasonic sensors are used to monitor the area around the vehicle.

With this lavish array of sensors and improved software and hardware platforms, the group expects to be able to offer level 3 autonomous driving in the medium term.

Nothing has changed in the prices that have already been published: The iX xDrive40 can be parked in the garage for at least 77,300 euros.

The larger model costs 98,000 euros.

With the XDrive50, however, the end of the flagpole has not yet been reached for BMW.

At a later point in time, the carmaker plans to bring an M60 onto the market with an even higher output of 440 kilowatts (600 hp).
