The talented swimmer, Maria Esber, aspires to join the national team and represent Syria externally in the upcoming sports tournaments and benefits, and raise its flag in Arab and international forums, after she was distinguished in local tournaments with her high skill performance and remarkable results.
In a statement to SANA’s sports reporter, 14-year-old Esper said: I started swimming with the encouragement of my father 3 years ago, when I joined the summer school in Lattakia under the supervision of coach Muhammad Zidan, and I gradually developed myself and improved my technical and physical level to be ready to participate in local tournaments.
She added: I won my first participation in the gold of the governorate championship for the cubs in the summer of 2018, with the 50-meter breaststroke competition. Chest meter and bronze 50 metres.
Esper pointed out that the good results she achieved motivated her to achieve many medals. In 2020, she was crowned in the women's category with four gold medals, including the Governorate Championship and two silvers in the Republic Championship in the 100 and 200 meters breaststroke competitions.
Coach Mohamed Zidan explained that Asper is one of the most promising materials that has been distinguished by its mastery in all types of swimming, especially breaststroke. It also possesses fitness, flexibility and speed of absorption in the implementation of movements and exercises. It will have a future in Syrian swimming and will achieve its ambition to join the team if it continues training without interruption.
