From 6 p.m. we will inform you here with continuously updated figures about the outcome of the election in Saxony-Anhalt.
With the election, the size of the state parliament without compensation and overhang mandates will be reduced from 87 to 83 members.
The associated elimination of two direct mandates reduces the number of constituencies to 41. The map shows the results from the individual constituencies:
This is how voting is done in Saxony-Anhalt
Every eligible voter has two votes. A direct candidate is elected with the first vote. The winner of a constituency moves into the state parliament with a direct mandate. The second vote goes to a party or electoral association. The result of the second vote is decisive for the distribution of seats in the state parliament.
The state parliament is made up of the 41 winners in the constituencies and at least 42 members who, after the second vote result, receive a mandate from the lists of the parties and electoral associations.
If more direct candidates come into parliament for one party than it would be entitled to with the second vote result, the other parties receive compensation mandates.
This ensures that the seating ratio corresponds to the ratio of the second votes.
This can increase the number of seats to more than the planned 83 mandates.
The state parliament in Saxony-Anhalt is elected for five years.
