Heavy thunderstorms passed over Bavaria at the weekend.

The fire brigades were in constant use in some places.

Apparently it will continue like this on Monday.

Update from June 7th, 2:57 p.m.:

As soon as the afternoon breaks in Bavaria, it has been said in the past few days that the time for storms has come. Today's Monday is no exception. The DWD warning card lights up in bright red tones. Especially east of Bayreuth in Upper Franconia, it is currently crashing hard. The highest warning level was proclaimed here: "Official storm warning of severe thunderstorms with extremely heavy rain and hail." Here, precipitation amounts between 40 and 60 l / sqm are possible. Hailstones can be up to two centimeters in size.

But also in Central Franconia around the metropolitan region of Nuremberg there are currently severe thunderstorms.

Storms are also raging in the Upper Palatinate all the way to Lower Bavaria.

Here it can sometimes be 20 to 40 liters of rain per square meter.

In addition, gusts of wind of up to 60 kilometers per hour are possible.

Weather: June has been too warm in Bavaria so far

Update from June 7th, 9:18 am:

Another day with heavy thunderstorms and heavy rain is over. Many regions in Bavaria are now hoping for relaxation after the fire brigades have been working long shifts there. But meteorologist Dominik Jung from

qmet.de

gives them little hope. "The storm is far from over," said the weather expert. The week should remain muggy and warm. It is currently far too hot in the Free State for that. After May and April, which were too cold, now comes the other extreme. In the German average it is 3.8 degrees too much. In the Bavarian Forest sometimes even 5.4 degrees. And in the warm, humid air, 23 degrees quickly feel like 28, 29 or even 30 degrees.

In addition, the weather expert worries about the lack of air flow.

Possibly a phenomenon of climate change says Jung.

The lack of draft means that thunderstorms get stuck in one place for a long time "and that just leads to the flash floods mentioned".

Damage caused by storms in Germany has already resulted in millions of dollars.

In the Swabian town of Dillingen, around 100 liters per square meter came together yesterday.

The expert therefore urgently warns, "Do not go into the basement during flash floods, there is a risk of flooding".

DWD warning of thunderstorms for large parts of Bavaria

Today, according to the DWD, thunderstorms can occur again in large parts of Bavaria.

From 1 p.m. it can pour again in almost all of the Free State.

Only the southeast is largely spared.

Large parts of Lower Bavaria, Upper Bavaria and the Upper Palatinate remain dry.

Temperatures around 23 are reached.

In the Allgäu it gets a little cooler with 18 degrees.

Thunderstorms can still occur occasionally during the night.

The thermometer remains in the double-digit range everywhere in Bavaria.

It gets warmest in Lower Franconia with 15 degrees.

Weather in Bavaria: Heavy rain over Swabia

Update from June 6th, 7:58 pm:

The rain showers in parts of Franconia and the Upper Palatinate have decreased.

The highest warning level has been removed.

However, a new region is now marked in dark red on the DWD warning map.

A heavy rain band has settled north of Augsburg.

Here, at the moment, precipitation amounts to 30 to 50 liters per square meter.

The warning is still valid until 9 p.m.

By then it could be another 20 to 30 liters.

For the remaining parts of Swabia there is still a DWD warning of heavy rain.

This is valid until 4 a.m. on Monday morning.

This can bring down another 20 to 35 liters per square meter by dawn.

Large parts of Upper and Lower Bavaria as well as the north-western part of Lower Franconia come from this largely dry.

Original report from June 6th, 5 p.m.

Munich - The first days of this year's summer were already tough.

In many places, warm, humid weather * has led to severe thunderstorms with heavy rain.

And according to the German Weather Service (DWD), it doesn't seem to be over yet.

One region in Bavaria is particularly affected on Sunday.

DWD issues the highest warning level for parts of Bavaria

The region between Bayreuth, Nuremberg * and Regensburg * was hit again and again this weekend.

The DWD also issued the highest warning level for this region on Sunday afternoon (as of 4.30 p.m.).

There is a threat of "extremely heavy rain and hail".

In severe thunderstorms *, precipitation amounts to around 50 liters per square meter.

Storms can currently occur in all of Upper Franconia, parts of Upper Palatinate, Lower Bavaria, Upper Bavaria and Central and Lower Franconia.

But Swabia is not spared either.

Cloud fields with heavy rain in their luggage are now also passing through there.

The situation in large parts of Bavaria should only relax again on Monday.

Upper Franconia in particular was hit hard on Saturday.

The police reported more than 100 missions - mainly around the municipality of Bindlach (district of Bayreuth) and in the district of Coburg.

Numerous cellars were full, said a spokesman on Sunday.

A landslide occurred near Gößweinstein in the Forchheim district.

On the A72 near Köditz in the Hof district, a family of five hurled their car on a wet road against the central barrier.

Then the car slid across the lane into a wildlife fence.

The children between the ages of two and twelve were injured and taken to hospital.

Several lightning strikes in Lower Bavaria and the Upper Palatinate

In the Upper Palatinate and Lower Bavaria, too, the fire brigade and police had to move out again and again. At Vilseck, a lightning strike put the railway barriers out of order. The trains had to run on sight. A power pole caught fire in the Dingolfing district after lightning struck there as well.

There was also a lot going on in Swabia. There were around two dozen cellars full in the Donau-Ries district, as the police announced on Sunday. Several sailing boats capsized in a storm on Lake Constance. The state control center Vorarlberg triggered an international sea alarm. Numerous police boats, fire brigades, water rescuers and helicopters were in action. Violent thunderstorms are also raging in neighboring Austria. The Ötztalstraße in Tyrol had to be closed after a rock fall. "Obergurgl is currently not accessible via any traffic route," said the police in Sölden. An airlift would ensure supplies to the population.
