This June 6 marked the seven years since Marcelo Gallardo took office as River coach. Seven years of a revolution. Seven years of a historic break in the history not only of the Núñez club but also of Argentine football. Seven years of work and much glory. Seven years of constancy. And still the Doll is still valid. "

River is going to recover its history

", was one of the phrases he said in his first conference. Seven years later, not only did he get it back, but he made it bigger.

In a well-detailed report, River celebrated the Doll's seven years as the club's manager.

In the 339 official games he has led since he arrived, River won 179 games, tied 93 and lost 67, which is equivalent to having a 62 percent effectiveness.

In addition, he scored 589 goals and converted 300. He averages 1.74 goals per game and 0.88 against.

In 139 games, meanwhile, he managed to keep the fence undefeated.

River, with Marcelo Gallardo, played 136 home games at the Monumental, of which he won 75, drew 37 and lost 24. He played 17 games undefeated in all competitions (10 wins and 7 draws) between February 2016 and November of that year.

With the Doll on the substitute bench, River won twelve titles since his arrival.

Two Copa Libertadores, three Recopa Sudamericana, three Copa Argentina, two Super Cup Argentina, one Copa Sudamericana and one Suruga Bank.

On average, he lifted a trophy every 213 days.

Throughout this period, 63 footballers scored goals in all competitions.

In the top five, behind the Colombian are Lucas Alario (41), Ignacio Scocco (38), Gonzalo Martínez (35), Rodrigo Mora (34) and Ignacio Fernández (31).

Gallardo used 111 footballers in his seven years at River, of which 41 (36.9%) were juveniles whom he made his debut.

Two of those debutants managed to exceed 100 games in the institution Gonzalo Montiel (132) and Lucas Martínez Quarta (104).

The only footballer to exceed 200 matches in the Gallardo era is Leonardo Ponzio (204).

Along with Jonatan Maidana, they are the two who have been in the current squad since the official debut against Ferro for the Argentine Cup on July 27, 2014.

Nine River players played more than 10,000 minutes with Gallardo as River's coach.

All these players also played the historic match against Boca at the Santiago Bernabéu, in the final of the 2018 Copa Libertadores. Seven of them continue at the club.

Franco Armani was the goalkeeper who spent the most games without conceding goals under Gallardo's management

: he played six games without suffering so many in all competitions between May 2018 and July 2018 (4 wins and two draws).

Gallardo has a positive record in all competitions against River's four historic rivals

: Boca, Independiente, Racing and San Lorenzo.

In addition, it was measured against the four in international competitions and River advanced in each of those direct elimination matches.

He eliminated Boca in five of six crosses, beating him in two finals (the Argentine Super Cup in March 2018 in Mendoza and the historic Copa Libertadores in Madrid in December of the same year);

Independiente was left out of the quarterfinals of the Copa Libertadores 2018;

Racing also surpassed it in that Cup in the previous instance (round of 16) and defeated it in the final of the Argentine Super Cup three months ago and San Lorenzo also won a final: that of the Recopa Sudamericana 2015, with triumphs in the Monumental and in the New Gasometer.

With Gallardo, River faced Boca in 22 games (the rival he played the most against), of which he won 7, drew 10 and lost 5 (47% effective);

a Independiente in 10, of which it triumphed in 5, equaled 1 and fell in 4 (53%), with San Lorenzo it was also measured ten times, with 5 wins, 1 draw and 4 lost matches (60%).

Guillermo Barros Schelotto is the coach Gallardo faced the most times as River's coach.

He played eleven games, won four, tied five and lost two.

Among the five technicians against whom he played the most games, three directed (or direct) Boca: Guillermo (2016-2018), Gustavo Alfaro (2019) and Miguel Ángel Russo (2020 - present).

The other two are Ricardo Zielinski (10 games, with 5 wins, 2 draws and 3 losses) and Eduardo Coudet (8 games; 5 wins, 2 draws and 1 loss).

El Mellizo was the coach who suffered the most to Gallardo.

Gallardo is the coach who won the most Libertadores at the club, with two.

He is also the one who played the most finals (3) and the one who led the most games (79).

The Doll won 37, tied 28 and lost 14. Since River played its first Libertadores with Gallardo as coach (2015), the Millionaire is the team that played the most games (79) and one of the ones that won the most matches (37, together with Palmeiras).

As River coach, Gallardo triumphed at least once as a visitor outside Argentina Libertadores in each of the Conmebol countries, except Bolivia.

In total he has 13 victories as a visitor in the tournament.

In Brazil it is where he won the most times (3): Cruzeiro in 2015, Gremio in 2018 and Palmeiras in 2020.

River has eight games without falls in Brazil for the Copa Libertadores (2 wins and 6 draws).

Since the Doll arrived, he won more matches in that country than River had won in its entire history in the competition.

River is the team that scored the most goals in the Copa Libertadores since Gallardo arrived (139) and the third with the highest average of goals per game among teams that played more than 15 games (1.76).

River is the only team that scored eight goals in a Libertadores quarter-final match (8-0 against Jorge Wilstermann, in the 2017 edition), and the only one that did so twice in the competition: it also scored eight to Binational in 2020. Since then, no other club has scored eight goals in a continental tournament match.

The numbers do nothing but support the concept: Gallardo made a revolution. It's been seven years now ... And it's going for more ...
