Eleven people were killed in an attack by unidentified gunmen on a town in Oyo state, southwestern Nigeria.
"Unidentified gunmen launched an attack last Saturday on the city of Igangan in the state, killing eleven people, including some of the attackers, and setting fire to a number of buildings and vehicles," AFP quoted a spokesman for the Oyo state police as saying in a statement. To the police in the area to avoid a deterioration of the situation, without giving further details.
And 88 people were killed in attacks by a gang of cattle thieves on seven villages in the northwestern Nigerian state of Kebbi last Thursday.
Northwest and central Nigeria are centers of criminal gangs of cattle thieves who raid villages and kidnap residents for ransom after looting and burning homes.
