Holidays in Austria have been a lot easier since May.

You can find out here which corona rules are waiting for you upon arrival and on site.

Summer is just around the corner and with it the Germans' desire to travel is sparked.

Relaxed corona rules * in neighboring countries make vacation planning easier.

Austria in particular has relaxed many measures in the last few weeks and thus eased immigration.

You can see at a glance what you currently need to consider when going on holiday.

The current corona situation in Austria

The corona situation in Austria has improved a lot in the last few weeks.

The current incidence across the country is 27.8 (as of June 7).

In addition, the Robert Koch Institute has removed almost all of Austria - with the exception of the federal states of Tyrol and Vorarlberg - from the list of risk areas.

This also makes it easier for holidaymakers to return to Germany.

Austria vacation: test, vaccination & Co. - You have to consider this when entering the country

Before entering Austria, all travelers must register electronically. The confirmation of receipt must be printed out upon entry or presented on the mobile device. In addition, everyone must have a

negative PCR or antigen test

. The PCR test must not be older than 72 hours, while the antigen test must not be older than 48 hours. The result or the medical certificate must be available in German or English. If you cannot show a negative test, you must take the test within 24 hours of arrival at your own expense.

As an alternative to the negative test result,

proof of vaccination

may also be

provided.

A first dose is sufficient if it was at least 22 days and a maximum of three months ago.

A second vaccination must not have been more than nine months ago.

A

proof of made by Corona infection

in the last six months exempt from the mandatory testing.

Since, from Austria's point of view, Germany is one of the “countries with a low incidence of infection”, quarantine is no longer necessary when entering the country.

Is it allowed to enter Austria with unvaccinated children?

The entry regulation applies to children as well as adults, informs the Federal Ministry for Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection on its website. Children who travel under adult supervision are, however,

affected

by the

relief

: Up

to the age of 10

they are exempt from the obligation to provide evidence - they do not have to show a negative test, vaccination or recovery. Should a quarantine become necessary, it is deemed to have ended as soon as the quarantine of the accompanying adult has ended. However, electronic registration must be carried out for each child.

In the case of

underage children between the ages of 10 and 18, the

rule is that they need a negative test result on entry, unless they have a vaccination or proof of recovery.

The prerequisite is that the accompanying adult has been vaccinated or has recovered and can prove this accordingly.

Otherwise, the test must be carried out within 24 hours of arrival.

These corona rules apply in Austria

A minimum distance of two meters from other people is specified in public.

The

compulsory wearing a FFP2 mask

consists among other things in supermarkets, in the food retail trade, banking and postal outlets, on public transport and in pharmacies or events in enclosed spaces where no seats are assigned.

Restaurants and hotels have reopened, but can only be visited with a valid test.

PCR tests are valid for 72 hours, while antigen tests can be 48 hours old.

Self-tests are also allowed, but may not be more than 24 hours old and recorded in the official data processing systems of the federal states, as the Federal Foreign Office informs.

Restrictions apply to the size of groups inside restaurants.

Austria vacation: are campsites open?

With the entry into force of the opening ordinance in Austria on May 19, accommodation providers will be allowed to reopen - this includes campsites.

According to the Austrian Camping Club (ÖCC), the

same rules

apply to the campsites

as to other hotels or accommodations

.

That means: To enter the campsite, the “3-G rule” applies, so a negative test, a vaccination or proof of recovery must be provided.

If additional leisure facilities at the campsite - for example, hospitality or sports facilities - are used, tests or evidence must be renewed.

Austria 2021: What do you have to consider when returning to Germany?

Anyone

entering

Germany from non-risk areas in Austria does

not need to

submit

a digital entry registration or a negative test

. The obligation to test only applies to air travelers if they have not been vaccinated or have recovered. Even when passing through a risk area such as Tyrol, there is no need to register for entry or a negative test, as long as no stopover has been made.

When

staying in Tyrol or Vorarlberg

with the exception of the communities / exclaves Jungholz and Mittelberg / Kleinwalsertal, returnees must fill out the digital entry registration and submit a negative test.

As soon as the negative test result or proof of a complete vaccination or recovery is submitted via the entry portal, the 10-day quarantine can be shortened.
