Damascus-SANA
On the occasion of the celebration of the International Day of the Russian Language, which coincides with the birthday of the poet Pushkin, the Russian Cultural Center in Damascus held a poetry competition in honor of the winners.
The competition included the presentation of excerpts from the poems of the poet Pushkin in a theatrical way by the students of the Russian language in the center, where the performance of each contestant was evaluated and its ability to pronounce correctly and achieve the appropriate expression of meaning.
In 2010, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) approved the celebration of the International Day of the Russian Language on June 6 of each year, coinciding with the birthday of Alexander Pushkin, who is considered the founder of the contemporary literary Russian language.
Pushkin was also called the prince of Russian poets, although he did not live more than 36 years, but he left abundant literary traces and was a pioneer in the field of convergence between Russian literature on the one hand and Arab and oriental literature on the other hand. He learned the Arabic language and talked repeatedly about his influence on the Holy Qur’an.
