This is not bioethics, it is theater. Between the provocations of some, the obstruction of others and the position of the government, the debate did not really take place. It comes down to the sole desire of the President of the Republic to want to pass a text which he had made a campaign promise. I am saddened to see these bioethical subjects treated as a reform on public finances or road safety. They raise fundamental questions which cannot be dealt with with vociferations. Previously, the revision of bioethics laws left more room for reflection and dialogue. This made it possible to adjust the law, to arrive at consensuses voted in calmly, without these somewhat artificial turmoils which mark our time. Today there is an exhaustion of thought.
