The concert “We are returning to love” hosted by Dar Al-Assad for Culture in Lattakia brought back musical and lyrical artworks from the Arab heritage with contemporary lyrical variations, with a performance that showed the high musical and vocal capabilities of a group of university youth amateurs for art and music.

The oriental musical maqamat had a share in the concert, which began with the sound of Bayat Al-Arian, which is considered the most famous of my hearing in Arab music, in addition to the Hijaz, Sika and Ajam link, while the presence of the muwashshah with “Yamr Ajaba” was evident, revealing the remarkable vocal capabilities of the young performers Khaled Saloukha and Anas Al Shaar.

The songs of the beautiful time were also presented with money (even if) by Wadih Al-Safi, the song (Amanat Alaik) by Karem Mahmoud and (Ali Jarre) by Alia Al-Tunisi, so that the band then moved the audience to a different musical style with a number of modern songs (If We Love A Mistake) by Wael Kfoury and (I Hanit) ) by Majed Al-Mohandes and (Ali Bali) by Adam, to conclude the concert with the patriotic song (Write your name, my country).

Seven university students from different specializations (medical, engineering and music) combined their passion for music to form a musical group that aims to revive the Syrian musical identity and present the rich Arab musical heritage with young visions that are able to attract different segments, especially young people, according to Oud player (Wassim Satouf), one of the founders of the band and a student Final year in architecture.

Satouf explained, in a statement to SANA reporter, that the concert, titled “We are returning to love,” is an announcement of the return of the band, which was founded in 2017, professionally, to present music after a period of repeated interruptions imposed by the transfer of a number of its members to other universities, which requires every time to work on its restoration. And re-creating it anew, noting the Syrian musical situation, which is witnessing a presence and renewal despite the long years of war through the presence of Syrian youth keen to present the true and authentic identity of art.

For her part, Rahaf Al-Zouzo, a student at the Institute of Teacher Training at the Music Institute, who performed a number of concert songs, considered that going out to the audience and standing on the stage of Dar Al-Assad is an opportunity for young people to highlight their talents and abilities, while being careful at the musical level that is presented by re-presenting traditional songs in addition to contemporary songs. In satisfying the taste of a wide segment of the public.

Director of Culture in Lattakia Majd Sarem pointed out the keenness of cultural institutions in terms of incubating and supporting young talents and providing them with the opportunity to go out to the public and present themselves in the best way, always focusing on the importance and level of content, which contributes to raising the artistic taste of the audience.
