Thanks to the corona vaccination, there is an enormous rush for new vaccination cards among general practitioners.

And thus also on booster vaccinations, which are long overdue.

District - Because of the corona vaccination, more and more people are looking for their vaccination certificate. Many in vain. "I would like to say that half of our patients no longer have a vaccination certificate," says Irene Lex, senior medical assistant at the group practice Dr. med. B. Nimmrichter and Müller in Anzing, Forstinning and Hohenlinden. This year she has seen many patients whose “basic vaccinations”, such as tetanus and diphtheria, were more than 30 years ago.

Often the men still have a missing booster injection against polio.

Because the number of vaccination record losses is enormous among men: "They were vaccinated by the Bundeswehr and were then deleted from memory," she suspects.

The women are a little more reliable because in recent years a pregnancy has often been in between when the passport was needed.

Over 50 percent more vaccinations in autumn than in previous years

At the moment the practice is still fully occupied with the corona vaccinations.

The refreshments that now come about go to the practices afterwards.

For example, an unusually high number of vaccination appointments are said to have been made for the coming autumn: "We will then have 40 or 50 percent more vaccinations than usual," says Lex.

Tick vaccinations, on the other hand, are going rather tough.

Although the whole district is a red risk area, the number of tick vaccinations has decreased in the past two to three years - even among children.

"It feels like there are more and more opponents of vaccinations or people who are skeptical about the vaccination," regrets the senior medical assistant.

More attention for further vaccinations thanks to the corona pandemic

The situation is similar in Dr. med. Franz Schug in Steinhöring. Johanna Stadler, the medical assistant, explains there: “Thanks to the media, people are probably more interested in vaccinations.” In previous years, patients had been advised of pending syringes during annual health checks, but many ignored or forgot the cheat.

Thanks to the pandemic, around a third to half of the patients now need a new vaccination certificate from Stadler.

It is difficult to say whether the yellow booklet was actually lost or just couldn't be found quickly at the spontaneous corona vaccination appointment.

She appreciates that many people simply want a second, separate vaccination card.

Because it will be "still very important due to the corona vaccination," she says.

She is also certain that within a year there will be increased demand for everyday vaccinations such as tetanus or ticks.
