Reading: children give voice

2021-06-08T21:44:39.632Z

On Thursday, June 17, the grand finale of the “If we read aloud” contest, a special evening at La Grande Librairie, will be broadcast. More than 130,000 middle and high school students from all over France took part.

The recording took place on Thursday, June 4 on the set of La Grande Librairie. “It was a pure moment of happiness, we flew away, listening to children and young adolescents read aloud the texts they had chosen,” said a witness to the recording. This pure moment of happiness is the grand finale of the “If we read aloud” competition initiated by François Busnel, in partnership with France Télévisions, Lumni and the Ministry of National Education, Youth and Sports. Those who attended the first edition of this competition last year know to what extent it is a source of emotion, and even pride to see children take over classic or contemporary texts. This year-round competition is living proof that teens love to read and pass on their reading enthusiasm.

The 2021 edition was able to take place despite all the constraints linked to the pandemic which hampered middle and high schools.

Throughout the year, in La Grande Librairie, we saw children working with their teachers and writers who came to visit them in their classes to give them some advice.

So who will be crowned the best reader in France?

We will know in the program which will be broadcast on June 17 where ten finalists aged ten to seventeen compete and defend their luck in front of a renowned jury: Gaël Faye, Clara Dupont-Monod, Cécile Coulon, Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt.

Pleasure of reading

As in another famous program where it is a question of voice, the pupils have "coaches" who bring their advice in order to read well aloud, because it is quite an art.

They are Guillaume de Tonquédec, Anne-Loiret and Loïc Corbery, from the Comédie-Française.

"Sharing, emotion and humor to celebrate reading and the pleasure of reading: this is the program for this special evening of France 5", says one on the side of La Grande Librairie.

More than 130,000 middle and high school students from all over France (mainland France and overseas) and for the first time students from French schools abroad took part in this operation launched in September 2020.

And, promises the production, to celebrate in the best possible way and in good humor the reading aloud of the actors, Valérie Bonneton, François Berléand, Lionnel Astier, Anne Loiret and Guillaume de Tonquédec, are invited to surprise us during this great evening. with readings of contemporary texts:
