Seine-et-Marne: the second departmental vaccinodrome opened in Fontainebleau

2021-06-08T14:47:46.809Z

To support the rise of vaccination, a new XXL center has been open since Monday in Seine-et-Marne, in Fontaineble

In both cases, it is an emblematic place of Seine-et-Marne which was chosen to host a giant vaccination center.

After the Disney's Newport Bay Club hotel in Disneyland Paris at the end of last April, it is on the edge of the Fontainebleau forest that the prefecture has chosen to set up its second vaccinodrome.

More precisely in the Lucien Martinel gymnasium, which opened its doors on Monday, May 31.

“Doses are pouring in, and all adults are now eligible for the vaccine.

We had to find an appropriate response to this turning point in vaccine policy, comments Frédéric Valletoux (Agir), mayor of Fontainebleau and president of the Hospital Federation of France.

The department represents half of the area of Ile-de-France.

Another such place in the south was needed.

"

The day after the opening, the elected official came on site to observe the system put in place with the departmental fire and rescue service (Sdis 77).

Firefighters, nurses, doctors, reception staff, volunteers, there are around fifty of them to receive, register, prick and watch over an audience that has considerably rejuvenated.

And this, seven days a week. Seasonal workers have also been recruited by Sdis.

"We see a lot of young people who have understood that this was the key to traveling this summer"

“Since Monday, we have a new population, with a bit of all ages.

We see a lot of young people who have understood that it was the key to travel this summer and that it will undoubtedly be necessary to show a white footing, ”confides the city councilor.

"All the open slots are taken," rejoices Lieutenant-Colonel Nicolas Gallot, at the head of the device.

For the first week, we are vaccinating 1000 people a day, as was the case at the beginning at Disney and it will increase further.

By the week of June 7, we should be receiving 10,000 doses.

We should reach 2000 bites daily by mid-June.

Our organization is ready.

"

The site has a maximum capacity of 16 vaccination lines, but it has only opened about ten so far.

At the entrance, little waiting, even if people are there.

This is the sign of an obviously well-oiled mechanism.

“It was very fast,” confirms Laura, 19, from Fontainebleau.

I was impatiently waiting to be able to be vaccinated, like the rest of my family, just to meet again serenely during the holidays.

»Natacha, 20, and Théo, 23, traveled from Saint-Fargeau-Ponthierry.

Not necessarily 100% convinced at the base, they came "because this summer, we are going to Italy and therefore, it will be easier for the trip".

Ayman, 19, followed the example of his parents and brother, all already vaccinated. “There is a time when it will be mandatory for a lot of things this summer, he says. There is a possibility to do it now, you might as well go. Most of his friends won't come. “At our age, we say to ourselves that we are less afraid,” indicates the boy, who came from Dammarie-les-Lys. Maybe we should do as in the United States and offer young people something in exchange, like a raffle? "

"I often have a headache, is it okay?"

Are there no after-effects ?, he says to the firefighter who is about to administer his dose.

Nicolas reassures him.

"These are often the same questions that come up, says this adjutant of the Champagne-sur-Seine barracks, who was trained in half a day to be part of the 100 firefighters vaccinators of Seine-et-Marne.

We are also asked if it is Pfizer.

"

The opening of this second large-capacity vaccination center led to the closure of the municipal vaccination center which had opened on January 18 at the Lagorsse gymnasium.

More than 27,000 people have been vaccinated there.

Note that, since Monday, May 31, a new center, dependent on the Southern Ile-de-France Hospital Group in Melun, has opened its doors in Tournan-en-Brie.

100,000 doses per week in Seine-et-Marne the second half of June

Now, the prefecture officially lists 17 centers, including the two vaccinodromes, and has two non-permanent centers in Torcy and Dammartin-en-Goële.

The week of May 31, the department received more than 71,000 doses and it has 83,000 this week.

"We are preparing to be able to inject up to 100,000 doses per week during the last two weeks of June," says one in the prefecture.

She concedes, however, that there is a small decline in some centers but she says "no dose has been lost".

Since January and until May 30, according to data from the CPAM, 78.6% of those over 75 who live in Seine-et-Marne have received their first dose, against 77.2% of those aged 65-74, 65.2% of 55-64 year olds and 21.1% of under 55s. Of the entire population living in the department, 34.8% received their first injection and 13.1% had their two injections.
