The city of Nuremberg * has appealed to the state government several times to lift the mask requirement in the outdoor areas of the zoo, as it announced in a message.
Anyone wishing to visit the zoo must register online in advance free of charge at www.tiergarten.nuernberg.de.
A negative corona test or proof of vaccination are not necessary due to the current seven-day incidence.
A few days ago, the escape of a lynx from its enclosure in the zoo caused a stir.
In a neighboring enclosure, the animal then killed three antelopes and injured a young animal.
The animal was eventually stunned and returned to its enclosure, where it later perished.
