Fürstenfeldbruck

- A choice in Corona mode, a start with a distance and mask: The new City Youth Council has started its work in the middle of the Corona pandemic.

But the virus has in no way slowed down the euphoria.

The youngsters are full of zest for action and looking forward to their clubhouse.

"We manage everything just as well as if we were meeting," says Korbinian Butterer, the new chairman of the city youth council. The 16-year-old and his colleagues have come to terms with the online sessions and are eagerly using the Jit.si tool to work on their projects. Above all, the graffiti competition for the design of the underpass on Dachauer Straße. "We have already received some feedback," reports Butterer. Now the selection is made by the city youth council in consultation with the city. The employees of the building yard will whitewash the underpass, then the graffiti artists can get started. If the youngsters have their way, further underpasses can follow.

In addition, the city youth council is planning a video campaign for the federal election in autumn. The goal: to motivate the young voters to go to the ballot box. The action is the replacement for the politicians' fair at schools, which the young people actually wanted to set up. But Corona does not allow the top candidates to answer questions from the first-time voters on site.

That is why the idea of the videos came up: “We want to invite the top candidates of the parties from the district and ask them questions,” explains Butterer. In three minutes, the candidates can initially speak freely about what is important to them. “Which topics are addressed and which are not says something,” says the 16-year-old. Then the young people ask the politicians questions, which they can answer with yes or no or can choose between two options. The videos are uploaded via the social networks.

The aim of such campaigns is to keep in touch with the young Bruckers.

Because despite Corona, they are repeatedly asked about their activities.

They know that their peers miss meetings with several friends, not only outdoors but also in other places, including club sports.

“Online training is not the same,” says Butterer.

With the new clubhouse on the former Stockschützen area, the city youth councils want to further strengthen the connection to the youth. They should take over the building in August, when the area is transferred to the city. "Then we will plan actions at this point," announced Butterer. "For us, the home means, above all, easier meetings and meetings, and a better connection to the young people in the city."
