The parliamentary group is pushing the pace so that other plans do not ruin the idea.
Penzberg - Whenever Penzberg recently came up with suggestions for better and safer cycle path connections, the city referred to a future mobility concept. As reported, it is currently in preparation. A pedestrian and bicycle bridge over the street “Am Schlossbichl” would also fit into the concept. The parliamentary group of "Penzberg with each other" (PM) has proposed such a connection. However, she does not want to wait until the mobility concept is presented and discussed.
The PM parliamentary group has now submitted an application to the city to have the feasibility of such a bridge checked in advance. She argues that there are currently plans for flood protection in the Säubach area. It is therefore advisable to "also consider the feasibility of a desirable pedestrian and bicycle crossing over Schlossbichlstrasse" before defining these measures. The planning involves a retention basin that will be embedded in the landscape along the Säubach. The corresponding plans concern the area from "Am Schlossbichl" via the future family pool to Birkenstrasse. "The application concerns only the feasibility", clarifies the PM group. A later realization of the bridge, she explains,would be conceivable, for example, as part of a state horticultural show - for which the city may apply.

According to the PM presentation, the bridge will cross the street at the level of Schlossbichlpark, where the stone sculpture “Now-Time” stands. The lane is currently interrupted by a traffic island. "Bicycle traffic both from the new family pool and from the new residential area Birkenstrasse in the direction of the city center / Bahnhofstrasse would become enormously more attractive if a bridge from the old embankment to Schlossbichlpark were built with a moderate gradient and thus the bicycle traffic could flow without crossing roads," writes the PM -Fraction. Pedestrians would also benefit from a barrier-free crossing above the Säubach. This would create a pedestrian and bicycle-friendly connection to the residential, school and sports center Birkenstrasse, she adds in her application,
“Penzberg together” had already voiced the idea of the Schlossbichl Bridge in February 2020 during the election campaign in connection with an expansion of the cycle path network. At that time, the electoral association stated that the idea initially appeared as a “bold idea”, but that it has since proven to be the best possible solution.
