Damascus-SANA
Dr. Issam Zakaria Al-Amin, Director General of Al-Mowasat University Hospital in Damascus, announced the return of the hospital to work at full capacity by reopening outpatient clinics and performing cold operations that were rationalized during the last period within the framework of the exceptional measures taken to confront the third peak of the Corona epidemic.
Al-Amin said in a statement to SANA today: “The number of suspected cases of infection with the Corona virus, as well as the confirmed cases referred to the hospital, decreased since the beginning of last May until now by more than 50 percent,” in addition to the decrease in the occupancy rate of isolation and intensive care rooms designated for Corona patients in the hospital to 75 to 80 percent, after it reached 95 to 100 percent last April.
He pointed out that the epidemiological curve of Corona is currently being monitored, which has flattened since the beginning of last May and has continued to decline gradually until today in terms of suspected cases reviewed for the ambulance department and the number of people admitted to isolation and special care rooms in the hospital, explaining that the epidemiological curve usually decreases gradually and not sharply, given that severe cases And critical need longer time for treatment.
Dr. Al-Amin confirmed that no signs or numbers of a fourth peak of the epidemic appeared, and that if any change in the current situation and an increase in the number of injuries and suspected cases was observed, the exceptional procedures would be returned to the hospital, which includes the largest ambulance system in Syria and 36 medical divisions in various specialties.
Al-Amin indicated that there is still no qualitative treatment for Covid 19, but the most powerful weapon to confront it is to adhere to precautionary measures until a large segment of citizens is vaccinated, so that we have 60 percent of citizens “immunized” either with a vaccine or injury or both, and thus we have broken a cycle of reproduction virus and control it.
According to the latest statistics of the Ministry of Health, the total number of Corona injuries recorded in Syria so far has reached 24,659, of which 21,635 have been cured and 1,793 have died.
