Moosburg's Rewe supermarket is facing a radical change: the group has big plans for the location.
Meanwhile, there is still uncertainty inside the market.

- Even for long-established Moosburgers, this address has been associated with shopping for ages: The C + C Heilingbrunner, a kind of mini-metro, once resided at Neue Industriestraße 7 in Neustadt. Then came the Minimal supermarket - and eventually became today's Rewe store as part of the name change. This is the largest full-range supplier in the core area of Moosburg - after all, competitor Kaufland is located in front of the city gates in the Degernpoint industrial park. Accordingly, many people should be interested in the following information: The Rewe store in its current form will soon be history.
However, the group is not only planning to demolish the ailing stock, but also to build a new building in the same location.
This has now been announced by the city of Moosburg.
As stated in the documents for the building committee meeting on June 14th (7 p.m., Stadthalle), a corresponding application for a preliminary decision has been submitted.
From the point of view of Moosburg's 3rd Mayor Michael Stanglmaier, this is "good news".
Because: "The market represents an important local supply for many citizens."
Is Moosburg getting urgently needed medical practices?
At the same time, Stanglmaier is still a bit skeptical as to whether the further plans affecting the location will work: "The new building is also planning usage units for doctors," reports the Green City Council. “Building them alone is of no use to us. Whether the doctors urgently needed in Moosburg, for example an orthopedic or a dermatologist's practice, actually settle there in the end is not up to Rewe. And according to this regulation, there are currently no free places in Moosburg. Stanglmaier: "So either a practice would have to be relocated or closed so that a successor is possible."
The questions of whether the Rewe store will ultimately receive a building permit, how long the closure will then take between demolition and new construction, and what the division of the market area will look like in the future, mean that the tobacco exchange Kopp has a hangover.
The shop, which includes a large range of stationery and a newspaper kiosk on part of the building, has been run by owner Christian Kopp since 2008.
And as the Freisinger Tagblatt learned from him, “the subject of renovation / new construction has been hanging over us like a sword of Damocles for around eight years”.
Rewe-Markt tenants still face an uncertain future
Because while the employees of the Höflinger bakery - also tenants in Rewe - could be relocated to other locations, the tobacco exchange does not have other branches.
“Höflinger is a chain, I am a lone fighter,” says Kopp, who employs ten people.
"It was said that we were also part of the new planning - but we don't know what it will look like." all of this in concrete terms? "
Another major project is just a few meters from Rewe on the other side of the street: the building committee only approved a preliminary building permit for an apartment hotel in March.
