The anniversary is being honored nationwide with many events.
The Neufahrn-Hallbergmoos adult education center is also accompanying the festival year with a special program.
A special highlight is the storytelling evening “Miracles, Jokes and Wise Words”: On Friday, June 25th, there will be stories from 17 centuries - framed by klezmer music - in the Neufahrner community library
Delayed kick-off event of the anniversary program
The theme year on 1700 years of Jewish life had been prepared at the Vhs with a wide range of events - from a visit to the Jewish cemetery to an Israeli cooking course. Corona has postponed and changed a lot. So it happens that “miracles, jokes and wise words” will be the opening event of the anniversary program. That is entirely appropriate - because the narrative evening brings 17 centuries of eventful history to life - exciting, cheerful, thoughtful and clever.
The stories are about Onkelos, who messes with the Roman Emperor himself, about little Jonathan, whose cleverness saved a Jewish community from mortal threats in the Middle Ages, and about the inventiveness of a poor man a good 100 years ago who finally fed his large family.
Music lovers will also get their money's worth with klezmer music by Florian Ewald and Bartek Stanczyk.
Long dry spell without face-to-face events
"After the long dry spell without any face-to-face events, we are very pleased that we are also reviving Neufahrn's cultural life with this colorful evening," says Vhs director Susanne Arndt.
The event with storyteller Moira Thiele was created in cooperation with the community library.
Other joint events can already be marked on the calendar: on June 27, bestselling author Oliver Pötzsch will take you through Regensburg on the trail of his fictional character, the executioner's daughter.
And on July 22nd, community archivist Martina Paringer deciphered old letters and documents in the Neufahrner library.
Admission to the storytelling evening “Miracles, Jokes and Wise Words” costs twelve euros.
